Job Description
Job Summary
The Vice President (VP) of Finance is responsible for managing the financial operations of the company. As such, the VP of Finance will develop direct, and implement the business unit’s financial plans and quantitative analyses. S/he will lead, manage, and oversee the Company’s Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Accounting teams and functions. The VP of Finance will also design, implement, and oversee the budgeting, planning and forecasting processes while reporting on metrics and variances to drive business insights and optimize the business unit’s growth. Additionally, the role is expected to drive process improvements for efficiency, scalability, and productivity.
About Model
SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in Black and brown communities. SoLa is Southern California's largest for-profit affordable housing developer and is currently in construction on over 2,000 affordable housing units across Southern California. SoLa currently owns and manages over $1.2 billion of multifamily assets, almost all of which are in low-income, Black and brown communities.
SoLa's affiliate, MODEL/Z is reinventing multifamily housing creation by building the first and only standardized modular housing factory. The MODEL/Z is a comprehensive manufacturing system designed, engineered, and built to consistently produce a high-quality, low-cost, net-zero ready, and most importantly, standardized, modular housing product. MODEL/Z is a Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California that will deliver between 1,000 – 1,500 modular housing units per year by 2025. Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Partner with business unit’s leadership to ensure the company hits revenue and profitability targets
  • Prepare timely and accurate analyses, summaries, and reports of financial data on the operating progress of the business unit
  • Drive and manage financial initiatives, budgeting processes, and KPI tracking, including developing action plans to ensure annual financial objectives are met
  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results
  • Build, direct, and manage the finance and accounting teams to support the financial strategy for the business unit
  • Direct procedures and policies for financial operations. Prepare annual budget/monthly rolling forecasts incorporating strategic goals and objectives of the annual plan. Monitor and analyze budget variances throughout the year. Utilize data for updating forecasts. Administer and report on approved budgets.
  • Routinely review revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address issues affecting overall performance
  • Work with the senior leadership team to develop long-range plans/financial models and policies. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure teamwork in achieving corporate goals.
  • Improve efficiency related transactional and accounting processes, including standardizing and moving activities to the shared service center
  • Lead the implementation of the ERP system and its financial functions to create efficient workflows and ensure complete traceability.
  • Manages the business unit’s compliance with company policies
Education, Skills & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Proven ability to influence across functions and level
  • Experience with high growth, fast-paced businesses
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business or other related field
  • FP&A leadership experience
  • Experience in a Manufacturing business and cost accounting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • 15+ years’ of progressive responsibility within a finance organization
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA preferred
  • Planning and Consolidation Tool Experience (preferably BPC)
  • FP&A leadership experience within a high transactional business
