The Associate Project Manager supports the project activities (including those relating to risks & opportunities) to reach completion of the project regarding its technical, contractual, financial, and customer satisfaction aspects.


The Associate Project Manager is expected to be autonomous and responsible in supporting the Project Manager run the project organization and activities.


Perform the bids activities as requested/required for achieving more transportation business in NYC.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Support the Project Manager in implementing and managing projects related to Urban Rail Signalling in accordance with contractual requirements and company processes. Contribute to overall performance/schedule compliance, cash flow and budget of the project while ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained.
  • For assigned project management Work, lead the team to create an appropriately detailed schedule and then use that schedule and critical path to manage the execution of the project
  • Generate and submit official Letters to the customer and or subcontractor.
  • Perform other misc project or office support tasks such as be assigned Drug and Alcohol enforcement representative
  • Support the Project Manager in evaluating the need for “out of scope” work in-light of strategic project additional opportunities. Enforcing policies and procedures to ensure no unauthorized work is being conducted. Seek out and secure opportunities for variation orders to increase the project margin.
  • For assigned project management Work Packages, prepare and present progress report and associated KPIs
  • Provide project office with data management activities such as tracking of letters, CDRLs, actions and follow up on open items. Generate KPIs, which are presented to external and internal management.
  • Support review and input to the project register. For low criticality Work Packages, be accountable for decisions on expenditures of mitigation actions to support the most advantageous option for the company and project’s benefit and success.
  • Display strong communications skills ensuring clarity with the project team and external stakeholders (eg customer, subcontractors etc.)
  • For assigned project management Work Packages, lead progress meetings and project reviews.
  • Understand the project contract requirements for forecasting & reporting as required by the project to the customer.
  • Support evaluation and report on project “Estimates to Complete” in accordance with company practices thus providing clarity on cost exposures and future labour needs.
  • For assigned project management Work, evaluate the need for “out of scope” work in-light of strategic project additional opportunities. Enforcing policies and procedures to ensure no unauthorized work is being conducted. Seek out and secure opportunities for variation orders to increase the project margin.
  • Submit CDRLs to customer and or subcontractor per the project management requirements.
  • For low criticality Work Packages work with Department Managers to review resource requirements (such as LFR, etc) and assist in managing and addressing cost overrun / underruns.


Key Requirements:


  • 3 years of Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Processes, Team management, Coordination skills, Good communications skills, Negotiation skills, Risk Management
  • Advanced computer literacy – MS Office (Excel – especially formulas and KPIs, Word, Visio, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Master degree or Bachelor degree


Preferred Qualifications:


  • PMP or similar PM certification
  • Knowledge of railway products would be an asset
  • Railway experience with MTA highly preferred
  • Ability to understand technical matters would be an asset.


Salary Range: $90,000-100,000.
