Associate Director Of Physical Plant & Maintenance

The Department of Management Services at the State University of New York College of Optometry invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Physical Plant & Maintenance. This position is broadly responsible for the operations and maintenance of all physical plant, supervises the staff and oversees the operations of the facilities, maintenance, and custodial units. This position provides technical input for all related campus construction projects. The position is a full-time management confidential position and reports to the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and Operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or combination of education and relevant experience

Five years of facilities management experience, including facilities operations

Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent Computer Skills

Excellent organizational skills

Strong ability to develop, mentor, and supervise personnel

The ability to report or respond 24/7 for campus emergencies

Preferred:

Experience in higher education (SUNY/CUNY)

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facility management, or related field

Knowledgeable and experienced in supervision of trades (Electrical, Plumbing, light construction/renovation)

Strong mechanical background (HVAC systems)

Experience working with Johnson Controls Metasys Building Management System

Experience with financial management, procurement, project management, implementation of preventative maintenance programs

Experience working in organized labor environments and performing assessments on staff and operations

Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
