Summary

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the employees directly involved in maintenance related to facilities and parts department as well as administering preventative maintenance programs and assisting in and/or coordinating the planning and execution of installation and layout projects related to facility.


Responsibilities:

  • Use the computerized preventative maintenance system by issuing and prioritizing machine shop, equipment, and preventative maintenance work orders.
  • Assure appropriate responses to USDA concerns in the Plant.
  • Cooperate with Process Improvement, Technical Services, and Purchasing in the design and implementation of R&D and Process Improvement Tests and Project Activity.
  • Provide overall direction and define priorities for direct reports to assure their ability to cost effectively complete maintenance goals and control overhead cost.
  • Participate in the Quality and Productivity Improvement (QPI) process by leading team efforts and providing feedback to Supervision and Management regarding needs for process improvement.
  • Repair and preventative maintenance of facility equipment, to include maintaining equipment history.
  • Identify opportunities for and encourage hourly employees to pursue further training and self-improvement, through leading, coaching and building a team-oriented environment.
  • Under the direction of the appropriate Project Coordinator, assist in new facilities related equipment installation.
  • Work closely with Packaging Maintenance, Processing Maintenance, Sanitation, USDA, and other Management Team Members.


Qualifications:

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience required.
  • Boiler/Steam generator experience required.
  • Experience with and leading TPM and Continuous Improvement initiatives required.
  • Able to read blueprints and electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Preventative Maintenance program experience.
  • 5 years well-rounded maintenance experience including an in-depth knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, machine shop, electrical and general knowledge of electronics.
  • Two (2) years or more of experience as a lead or supervisor within the food industry.
  • Able to work in confined areas with widely varying temperature conditions.
