The External Relations department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Associate Director of Events to create, execute, and manage a wide area of high-level alumni and donor events related to the upcoming GSB Campaign and Centennial. Additionally, the Associate Director of Special Events will work collaboratively with event colleagues in External Relations who plan reunions and donor stewardship events to ensure coordination and cross promotional branding opportunities.
This is a highly cross-functional and visible role. In this role you will have the opportunity to design strategy and create meaningful events that celebrate the future direction of the GSB and engage a wide range of stakeholders and alumni from around the world.
The ideal candidate will possess a strategic, customer-service oriented mindset, be a strong project manager; pay close attention to detail; have a sense of humor and can-do attitude; a proven track record of motivating teams and coordinating vendors and volunteers. Within the External Relations team, this position reports to the Senior Director of Campaign Operations & Strategy and will collaborate closely with the Director of Reunions and Special Events. Staffing occasional evening and weekend events will be required. Flexible hours may be considered. Working remotely with occasional travel to campus is an option.
Your Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to: GSB External Relations, the GSB Dean’s Office, the broader GSB and Stanford community, and individual and corporate/foundation donors .
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and cost negotiations for special events.
  • Bear primary responsibility within GSB External Relations for developing a campaign and centennial events strategy.
  • Manage and execute high-level campaign focused events.
  • Work closely with facilities and vendors to execute flawless logistics.
  • Coordinate with colleagues across the External Relations Events team on how to incorporate the campaign and centennial in existing events.
  • In partnership with colleagues within Development (Principal Gifts, Major Giving, Business School Fund, Donor Relations and Development Communications), and Alumni Relations (Events, Education and Engagement),steward all volunteer event hosts with impeccable customer service.

  • Experience with executing events at Stanford or other universities is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with decision makers across many levels of an organization.
In Addition, Preferred Requirements Include
  • A minimum of 5 years of event design and execution experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
This remote role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University has five Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate. The expected pay range for this position is $74,000 to $112,000 per year.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
