Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with at least three days of remote work and up to two days onsite, per week.
CalPERS' Office of Public Affairs is seeking a creative, visual storyteller who has a passion for digital communications to lead the Video & Live Event Communications Unit. The Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) oversees the functions and manages the subordinate supervisory, analytical and technical staff in a fast-paced environment. Under the general direction of the Assistant Division Chief of the Office Public Affairs, this individual manages productions of the highest complexity, visibility and urgency of system-wide importance. The SSM II is tasked with the creative and technical work of producing videos, multimedia, webcasts, photography and large-scale productions that enhance the understanding of CalPERS' programs. This position oversees the organization's live events, including monthly board meetings, annual Educational Forum, and a variety of on-site and off-site productions. Additionally, the SSM II negotiates contracts, manages budgets, recommends equipment and technological solutions, oversees the on-site studio and editing room, and collaborates with leadership and unit managers on content creation and message development.
The most competitive candidates will have a minimum of five years’ experience in managing staff, producing video, multimedia, live-event productions, analyzing and tracking data, and demonstrated experience in digital communications.

- Developing and presenting information to senior leadership – both verbally and in writing

- Developing strategic communication plans
