About this role
BlackRock’s Event Driven team manages over $13.0 billion in AUM via a suite of event driven funds for both institutional and retail clients. The team manages four funds: two Cayman Hedge Funds, a UCITS fund, and a 1940 Act mutual fund. The strategy focuses on catalyst driven situations, including announced mergers and acquisitions, spin/split offs, management changes, financial/strategic restructurings, synergistic acquisitions, and collaborative activism. The Fund will invest predominantly in equity and equity-linked securities as well as opportunistically across the capital structure allowing the team to generate alpha by implementing best ideas within a flexible risk-aware framework.
The team has an opportunity for a Product Strategist to join the team in New York. The position supports the marketing, commercialization and client service requirements of all funds in under the Event Driven platform.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with new projects and help manage the daily operations of existing funds
  • Maintain a complete understanding of the Event Driven team’s philosophy, investment and risk positioning, and product suite so as to be the voice of the fund suite
  • Perform / highlight product and competitor analysis
  • Coordinate/attend client and prospect meetings, including pitching for new business, reviewing portfolios/conducting portfolio analysis, and creating market updates
  • Respond to client and prospect inquiries on the strategy including completing requests for proposal as well as ad hoc questions from internal and external parties
  • Coordinate the operational due diligence meeting process, involving communication with internal groups, including risk, legal, and operations
  • Liaise with internal sales force and marketing, shareholder services, legal, and BAI teams
  • Create and update marketing materials (presentations, factsheets, due diligence questionnaire, thought leadership pieces etc.) across the suite of event driven funds
Skills
  • Possess very strong writing, editing, and correspondence skills; ability to write clearly, concisely, and achieve the right tone with clients, prospective clients, and business partners
  • Feel comfortable working under pressure in a dynamic environment; be able to adhere to deadlines and handle shifting priorities
  • Ability to effectively execute on decisions in a fast-paced and high-excellence environment
  • Possess impeccable organization skills and be extremely meticulous; be able to track and manage complex processes with numerous partners; ability to develop or enhance new processes when necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate between various groups including investment teams, various client groups, legal, and other areas
  • BA/BS required, Series7/63 preferred
  • Experience in institutional fundraising with deep relationships across a range of institutional investor clients and strong understanding of the asset management sales process
  • Proven sales background – Results driven individual with a high level of attention to detail. Track record of building strong client relationships and being viewed as a trusted advisor
  • Ability to lead by example with high integrity standards and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to grasp and communicate complex concepts effectively
  • Highly proficient in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Highly motivated, self-starter capable of managing own time effectively
For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $156,750 - $205,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
