Job Description
Department Information


The purpose of Extended Studies/Prison Education Program is to provide alternative delivery of courses and programs to undergraduate, graduate and high school students both degree seeking and non-degree seeking, on campus, off campus and incarcerated. The division is a cash-funded arm of the institution and is responsible for recruiting, admissions, advising, processing registrations, grades, billing, and collections for the students. This department serves as a liaison between off campus students, off campus faculty and various on campus units.


Description of Job


The main purpose of this position is to provide general office support within Extended Studies/Prison Education Program and will be responsible for front-desk operations, including answering phones, opening, logging, and sorting mail and email, taking messages, making referrals and greeting the public.


This position will be the central point of contact for Extended Studies/Prison Education Program clients including student, parents, sponsors and adjunct and affiliate faculty in guiding them through processes, analyzing distance learning issues, and determining the correct individual /department to refer them to.


This position may also support the units within the department with data entry into Banner, WorkDay, and local databases and various tasks that occur during peak registration periods and large projects.

Education And Experience


Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.


*Years of experience will be expressed in terms of full-time equivalent service with full-time workload equal to one (1) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) year. No more than 1.00 FTE year may be credited in any twelve (12) month period. Positions working 40 hours or less per week will be pro-rated (30 hours/wk =0.75 FTE = 9 mos credit; 20 hrs/wk =0.5 FTE = 6 mos credit; 10hrs/wk= 0.25 FTE = 3 mos credit).*


Substitutions


Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience answering multi-line phones and managing voice mail.
