Job Description

Full Time, Weekdays. 40 hours/week.

Pay Range is between $18.00-$27.00/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The HR Assistants provide administrative support in the Human Resources and Employee Health offices, providing secretarial and clerical support to both departments.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

High school or equivalent preferred. Some post high school human resources and/or business courses preferred.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • Must have excellent communications skills in order to interact with the public, employees, managers and directors.
  • Must have excellent telephone skills.
  • Must have the ability to explain and interpret employment opportunities, benefits and policies to employees.
  • Abilty to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Must have excellent computer skills including a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software. Knowledge of other software, including database programs, PowerPoint and desktop publishing preferred. Previous experience working on a computer network helpful.
  • Must have organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a diverse workload.
  • A basic knowledge of human resources is preferred, including familiarity with local, state and federal regulations regarding employment.
  • Must be flexible in terms of being able to move from one job to another quickly, and must be able to cope with many interruptions and still accomplish the necessary tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal instructions.

Experience

  • Two to three years’ office experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical and/or Human Resource setting is preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reception Desk and Employee Health Support

  • Greets all visitors to Employee Health and Human Resources departments. Answers questions and/or directs appropriately. Have employees begin filling out paperwork as appropriate for appointment.
  • Promptly and courteously answers all incoming telephone calls for the Employee Health department. Provides information, transfers calls to appropriate person(s), and/or takes clear, detailed messages. Schedules Employee Health appointments as necessary.
  • Prepares ID badges for employees, physicians, allied health credentialed staff and volunteers. Issues and activates ECO passes as requested by employees.
  • Understands Leave, Worker’s Comp and Employee Health Policies.
  • Call and leave appointment reminder messages daily.
