Wholesale Credit Risk - Credit Analyst (Leveraged Finance)

As a Credit Risk Analyst, you will assess, permission, and manage credit and counterparty risks on an industry, client, geographic, and transaction basis. Credit risk is defined as the risk of loss arising from the default of a client or counterparty. Credit exposure arises through underwriting, lending, and trading activities with and for clients and counterparties, as well as from a range of operating services such as cash management and clearing activities.

The Credit Risk function identifies, measures, limits, manages, and monitors credit risk across our businesses. The teams are typically aligned by industry. Credit Risk is independent within Corporate Risk Management, reporting to the firm's Chief Risk Officer (CRO). Our practices are designed to preserve the independence and integrity of decision making.

Job Responsibilities

Risk Assessment

• Use financial models to incorporate the impact of forward-looking risk assessment on key value drivers
• Identify the key risk factors associated with clients, transactions, and industry sub-sectors across an assigned portfolio
• Develop and articulate a dynamic, forward-looking risk assessment of client companies, transactions, competitive threats, industry and other factors
• Prepare and participate in client due diligence meetings as necessary
• Attend client, bank, and other meetings to develop a better understanding of client companies, management teams, and industry sectors

Credit Approval Process

• Prepare credit approval materials, ensure all credit risk policies are followed, and present and recommend credits for approval at the appropriate level
• Track covenants and other terms and conditions as part of a deal team
• Review and negotiate legal documentation with credit officers to ensure terms are appropriate and consistent with credit approval
• Apply corporate finance and accounting expertise to develop risk rating view

Portfolio Management

• Provide a well-researched and thoughtful risk assessment of each assigned client on an ongoing basis
• Provide early identification and proactive management of deteriorating credits and other problem situations
• Ensure risk ratings are accurate and reflect a current forward-looking view of the client
• Analyze, prepare, and present for approval all required waivers, amendments, and extensions
• Prepare and present quarterly financial snapshot of the Diversified Industries portfolio
• Prepare and present annual portfolio review material to senior management

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

• In-depth knowledge of accounting and corporate finance is required
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment managing multiple tasks at the same time
• Possess strong analytical and modeling skills
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related area
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well in a team environment
• Interest in client interaction with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
• Highly motivated with a natural passion to learn and an inquisitive personality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Capable of understanding, describing, and debating complex concepts
