The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators and serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team.


Global Corporate Controllers (GCC) is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. GCC prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulator. For internal reporting, GCC along with Business Unit Controllers and Financial Planning and Analysis, summarizes, plans and forecasts the organizations financial position, including income statement, balance sheet and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings.

We are currently seeking a Vice President to lead, responsible for production activities associated with Standardized Credit RWA Calculation, Regulatory Rules and reporting. The candidate will have regular interaction with various teams across the global Finance, Risk, Legal and Business heads and SMEs organizations.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop a strong working relationship with Finance, Front Office, Treasury, Technology, Audit, Independent risk, and other counterparts across the organization
  • Lead the response to Regulatory, Internal Audit and Business Units reviews/exams/inquiries leveraging a technically sound, strong, and well documented process and governance.
  • Design and implement action plans and related controls to resolve and mitigate capital production issues.
  • Provide Regulatory Capital Calculation portfolio insights to influence business actions and drive financial results.
  • Assist with ad hoc requests/projects as needed.
  • Supervision of an on-shore and off-shore team
  • Support the presentation of CCAR/QST forecasting, QIS, and self-assessment results in the Basel Capital Steering Committee (BCSC) and other senior management forums
  • Support senior management from perspective, providing data analytics and impact analysis when needed.
  • Overseeing the Regulatory Capital Calculation and Reporting for earnings release, Internal Management Reports for Business Units as well as actuals and forecasts for annual Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and Quarterly Stress Testing (QST) forecasting
  • Perform analysis required for CCAR model related to back-testing, sensitivity analysis etc. required by Model Risk Management process and perform analysis and prepare overlay documentation required for quarterly 14A submissions
  • Work closely with IT on strategic remediation (drive EUC/adjustment remediation, implement new regulatory requirements), documenting requirements and performing UAT and production testing.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and oversee end to end standardized credit RWA calculation, governance, and controls of Regulatory Capital Calculation and Reporting at Financial Holding Company and Legal Entity level (e.g: Derivatives, Loans, SFT’s, Cash, Unsettled Transactions, Equity Investments and Other Exposures)
  • Critically review current processes design, infrastructure, controls, and governance to develop and implement a Roadmap to deliver Regulatory Capital Calculation and Reporting processes fully integrated with Technology and Data remediation plans and implement short-term streamlining initiatives for increased controls and efficiency


Qualifications – External:

  • Understanding of US regulatory rules for CCAR
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Understanding of US regulatory capital rules for counterparty credit risk for Basel III, Basel IV and SA-CCR rules with demonstrated ability to assess the application of those rules vs. regulatory expectations
  • 5+ years of Regulatory Capital knowledge preferred
  • Strong understanding of regulatory capital best practices and controls, and interdependencies between Trading Book and Banking Book exposures across different risk stripes
  • Evidence of working closely with other Finance functions and an ability to develop good working relationships both locally and in other locations
  • Proven ability to initiate and enhance the control framework for Finance functions
  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance is preferred
  • Proven leadership ability in resolving issues and implementing initiatives
  • Ability to lead and manage capital projects and influencing others to achieve desired goals and deliverables
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Understanding of US regulatory rules for Supplementary Leverage Ratio (SLR)
  • Qualified Financial Controller with 10+ years of general financial controller experience
  • Ability to transform processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills


Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
