Job Summary

Real Estate Banking (REB) delivers commercial real estate loans and banking products to top-tier national and regional real estate developers, investors, real estate operating companies and opportunity and investment funds in major markets across the United States. REB has national capabilities and expertise in real estate credit including term lending, subscription lending, corporate lending, and construction lending. Primary property types include multifamily, retail, office, and industrial.


As an Executive Director on the Credit Risk team supporting REB, you will assume a leadership role on a team responsible for the oversight, management, and approval of new and existing extensions of credit within the commercial real estate sector. You will work closely with the senior regional credit officer to push strategic discussions on new loan opportunities and existing exposures.


Job Responsibilities


Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Providing guidance to coverage partners on new credit transactions with respect to appropriate credit structures and terms
  • Working with clients, coverage partners, loan administration partners, internal and external legal counsel, and other parties to facilitate loan closings
  • Partnering with Portfolio Management to review completed Annual Reviews and ensure appropriate risk grades are assigned
  • Performing necessary credit analysis and due diligence on new loan opportunities including oversight of Approval to Pitch memos
  • Approving new transactions, modifications/extensions, and other administrative and transactional risk approvals within assigned approval authority
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing junior underwriting talent
  • Overseeing and driving ad hoc credit risk related projects and work flows
  • Reviewing Credit Approval Packages to ensure final underwriting and risk rating recommendations are aligned with established underwriting guidelines, credit approval requirements, and other policies and procedures


Required Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team
  • Exceptional business writing and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of real estate market dynamics and economic drivers, complex finance structures, and ability to identify risks and mitigants associated with commercial real estate lending transactions
  • Proven superior commercial real estate structuring, negotiating, underwriting and portfolio management skills
  • 8+ years in a similar banking or credit role
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new policies and procedures
