What You Will Be Doing

As an ESG Risk associate, you will perform environmental, social and climate change risk assessments of SCIB clients and transactions and participate in projects aiming to support new ESG business initiatives, and/or further embed these risks in existing risk management practices.

Responsibilities Include

• Participation in internal projects to develop the function.
• Assessment of eligible sustainable finance transactions from an ESCC risk perspective
• Participation in credit risk approval meetings/forum and ESG panels
• Support the Global ESCC Risk team on the Due Diligence process for transactions under the scope of Equator Principles IV.
• Partnering with 1LoD units to elaborate ESCC qualitative assessment
• Assessment of clients operating in sectors covered by the Environmental, Social and Climate Change (ESCC) risk policy and other sensitive sectors, in coordination with bankers, Credit Risk, and the Global ESCC Risk team.
• Report ESCC risk metrics to local committees and to the Global ESCC Risk team.
• Support training efforts on ESG matters
• Perform ESCC due diligence on SCIB clients and transactions
• Oversee and challenge the 1LoD on ESCC matters.
• Develop and maintain local processes and procedures to assess, manage and oversee ESCC Risks.

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in an environmental and social risk or ESG-related position, or in a credit risk or compliance position with experience on dealing with sensitive sectors and transactions.
• 5-9 years of general work experience.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor and/or MSc in Environmental Science; Geology; Biology; Agricultural, Chemical or Industrial Engineering. Business Administration or other ESG-linked educational backgrounds will be also considered.

• Professional understanding of environmental, social and climate change factors and their associated risks
• Bilingual English and Spanish a plus but not required

Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking. Occasional moving and lifting equipment and furniture is required to support onsite and offsite meeting setup and teardown. Physically capable of lifting up to fifty pounds, able to bend, kneel, climb ladders.

For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $112,125-$143,750. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
