Role: Senior Credit Insurance Analyst
Location: New York City, NY
Client: Highly-Rated Global Wholesale Bank
Duration: Full Time
Position: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Important Notes:
- Insurance experience must (Life/P&C/Health Industry).
- 10+ years in Banking/Insurance industry or equivalent
- In addition to strong Credit Analysis experience, candidates must have demonstrable experience in Insurance, specifically Life/P&C/Health.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for researching and analyzing macro-economic and insurance/banking issues that are relevant to the Bank’s members, counterparties and their overall risk profiles, in addition to detailed credit analysis of members and counterparties. Communicates research results throughout the Bank in line with the unfolding of events. Works with team members to instruct them to anticipate those systemic and unique issues that can have a negative impact on members and counterparties.
Essential Duties
- Insurance industry expert – Identifies and communicates to management key emerging economic trends that may have a negative influence on the health of members and counterparties.
- Trains and collaborates with junior analysts to identify emerging economic industry trends that affect member and counterparty risk profile.
- Work with Relationship managers to monitor credit quality of members to anticipate risk profile changes which may impact credit restrictions due to weaker credit quality and weaker district economic conditions.
- Reviews the output of the insurance company models for reasonableness and to make suggestion to improve result.
- Produces credit analysis of members, counterparties, mortgage insurers, vendors, mortgage servicers, housing associates, etc. Performs detailed analyses and formulates recommendations with little no guidance.
- Identifies growing risk exposures that are changing the risk profiles of insurance members and counterparties and recommends necessary changes to the Bank’s risk management policies.
Key Relationships
- External: Regular interaction with Bank customers, regulators and NRSRO analysts.
- Internal: Regular interaction with Capital Markets Group, Investment Portfolio Management, Bank Operations Representatives, Financial Accounting and Calling Officers.
Required Experience
- Understanding of domestic and foreign banking systems and macro/micro factors influencing bank/insurance risk profiles.
- Knowledge of global financial markets, banking industry including regulatory environment both existing and emerging issues, NRSRO rating systems, etc.
- 10+ years in Banking/Insurance (Life/P&C/Health) industry or equivalent performing Financial/Economic/Credit Analysis and report preparation with a specialization in the insurance industry.
Required Skills
- Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Office Suite of Products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- MBA/MS/BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar field (preferred)
- Experience with Databases and Database Management Tools, Data Mining (Querying).
