Job Description
McCarthy Holdings, Inc. is recruiting for a dynamic, strategic, and results-oriented leader to join their Human Resources team as the Vice President of Learning and Development. McCarthy has an award-winning training function that is ready to evolve with recent and planned growth. We need a leader who has direct experience leading a mature L&D function in a high performing $5B+ or 6000 employee+ organization. This is a newly created role, designed to evolve our strategic approach to employee learning and development, demonstrably and positively impacting future growth & goals in sales/revenue/margin.
The Vice President of Learning and Development will be responsible for evolving a best-in-class function that accelerates employee growth and development. This leader will match current and long-term business needs to a formulated philosophy and strategy for team member and leader development, including both exempt and non-exempt roles. This leader will coach, mentor, and oversee a team of approximately 18-20 team members dedicated to supporting the successful design and implementation of the learning and development strategy. A key focus will be to develop, socialize and implement a cohesive overall strategy that addresses employee development – not limited to training – at the organizational level.
Ultimately responsible to lead a function that will create, direct and manage the strategy and execution of learning and development processes across the organization that include: management / leadership development, knowledge and skill growth, key talent/high-potential development, and on-the-job employee growth and development. Leads projects, programs & processes with significant cross-functional business impact.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of new formal and informal learning strategies and products to address performance and operational needs
  • Embed a consistent and deep focus on the learner experience, ensuring that all training content is deeply engaging to the end user
  • Ensure consistency in the delivery and application of training standards across the business
  • Engage deeply with business and HR leaders to build and leverage a sophisticated understanding of external and internal business context
  • Assess, recommend and implement enhancements to our SuccessFactors learning system to ensure operational excellence in content storage / curation / delivery / tracking / compliance reporting
  • Review and assess all current learning and development programming / systems / tools / processes and implement both strategic and tactical improvements
  • Assess current team structure and enhance as needed to better meet business needs
  • Overseeing efforts to curate and organize all existing content into a user-friendly infrastructure that is easy to navigate for all stakeholders
  • Including blended learning, coaching, instructor led courses, distance learning, online learning, and peer-learning processes.
Qualifications
  • 10+ overall years of relevant and complex leadership experience is required, including experience leading teams
  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in Adult Learning, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organization Development, or Human Resources preferred
  • Strong data acumen capability with competence in leveraging data for quality insights
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and modern learning tools and technology
  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and overseeing large scale development programs and/or initiatives in a large, highly matrixed organization with multiple executive stakeholders
  • Strong track record of anticipating, designing, and implementing learning interventions with demonstrable business impact
  • Demonstrated track record of building individuals and teams. Proven leader of people able to build and manage high-performing teams committed to achieving and/or exceeding goals and objectives
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a senior leadership role over a learning function in a mature, complex $5B+ or 6000 employee+ organization
