Job Summary


The Vice President, Dental Office Operations (VP)) is accountable for driving growth and improvements to the P&L year over year. VP will report directly to the Enterprise President/Chief Operations Officer and work with regional Clinical Leadership to ensure all activities meet with regional clinical standards. This role is responsible for growing each dental practice revenue and margins in coordination with the clinical leaders, expanding locations through acquisitions, attract the top clinical and administrative staff with the Recruiting Team, and own in-market marketing and patient acquisition initiatives.Responsibilities:Leadership Responsibilities:


  • Invest five-days-per-week in the local market visiting dental office operations, meeting with providers and practice staff to review operations, and provide direction and leadership to the team
  • Recruit, develop and retain key talent in region through coaching, training and leadership development. Champion the practice staff experience to reduce first year and overall turnover in the region and create a real competitive advantage
  • Act ethically, compassionately and inspirationally. Take an active ownership mentality for the region and solve problems in the region
  • Identify practices to acquire, lead the due-diligence and own the integration process post-acquisition
  • Select top practice talent and develop practice staff to grow and prosper within the organization
  • Actively lead the regional growth program and any changes to strategy based on changes in market conditions. Develop and support practices, practice managers and clinical and regional leaders in the region so as to effectively and efficiently deliver services and achieve above-budget results


Growth & Revenue


  • Plan and execute select regional events to foster new patient relationships
  • Develop marketing programs with clinical staff and marketing, and work with practices to implement the programs
  • Review and understand revenue and volume trends for regional practices. Launch initiatives to grow practice revenue and margins with special focus on bringing bottom performing offices to the norm
  • Develop and execute regional growth strategy to increase new patient volume
  • Surface local market acquisition and partnership opportunities to the President and CFO
  • Obtain market intelligence on competition and their programs in the local market. Scout potential clinical candidates
  • Identify and develop revenue initiatives to grow patient volume, locations and margins meaningfully each year
  • Develop facility expansion business cases and manage the execution of the expansion plans
  • Develop key relationships in local markets with employers, clinics and hospitals to secure patient referrals
  • Deploy programs to introduce new dentists to the local market and work with dentists to tailor a playbook that attracts new patients to the practice


Operational and Quality Excellence


  • Manage all strategic and day-to-day operational requirements of the region through Practice managers with an emphasis on performance improvement, productivity and bottom-line results
  • Lead process of setting strategic direction for the region to achieve growth targets in excess of the industry
  • Oversee regional operational teams to ensure the delivery of safe, effective services as well as the continuous improvement of the patient experience and to insure that the facilities are compliant with all regulations
Qualifications:Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Healthcare, dental industry experience, or working closely with doctors and clinical staff in a distributed environment is a must
  • Multi-site facility experience or knowledge of management of a network of facilities in a retail environment is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and build trust-based relationships with a broad base of Team Members-from front line dental office staff to doctors to executive leadership to the Board of Directors
  • Ability to develop a business case and effectively promote the organization's service opportunities
  • Proven track record of improving and delivering aggressive financial & growth metrics
  • Solid foundation of general management principles and strong financial acumen achieved through 12+ years in a progressive organization.
  • Proven ability to thrive and deliver results in a matrixed organization that requires the VP to work with centralized shared services functions in areas including Information Technology, Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, Legal & Compliance, Marketing and Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Ability to analyze, apply key data and monitor trends to communicate change and obtain targets
  • Proven experience building a network of relationships to drive revenue opportunities and deploy regional strategies to impact new patient volume and expansion plans
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to analyze and manage budgets and identify and translate trends from P&L statements to guide decision-making to help the region meet and exceed budgeted growth commitments
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills


Education & Experience


  • 7-10 years of management and leadership experience leading teams of more than 50 people
  • Bachelor's degree a must; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 7-10 years in an operational and strategic executive role

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or in a car; and working on a computer
