About Ocean Aero:
Ocean Aero is an award-winning US company that has created the world’s first and only environmentally powered Autonomous Underwater and Surface Vehicle (AUSV.) Ocean Aero’s autonomous marine robot, the Triton, operates exclusively on wind and solar energy and performs long endurance missions on the ocean surface with the ability to dive below the waves for underwater operations. The Triton uses a complex array of custom-built sensors, marinized electronics and software systems to operate, sense and communicate in the environment.
Role Description:
The VP, Defense sales (INDOPACOM) is a highly specialized and demanding sales role. The primary responsibility is to maintain relationships with current and potential clients while promoting the company’s products and services. The defense salesperson must have a deep understanding of the defense industry and its various markets, products and services. The sales role requires excellent communication, negotiation skills and must be able to effectively communicate the features and benefits of the company’s products and services to potential customers. They must be able to understand and respond to customer needs. The defense sales position must also be willing to travel in order to meet with potential customers, attend industry events, tradeshows, and develop relationships with key personnel. This role also requires excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure deadlines are met and customer needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Candidates are ideally located in either San Diego, CA, or Honolulu, HI. Ocean Aero has a collaborative culture with plenty of opportunities for growth and ownership. As a member of the team, you will take ownership of the product and your actions will directly contribute to the success of the company. This role will report to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Ocean Aero.
Role Responsibilities:
Close purchase orders in a timely manner to hit company targetsIdentify and pursue new business opportunities in the defense industryBuild and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in the defense marketCollaborate with product development teams to ensure products meet customer needs and expectationsPrepare and deliver presentations to potential clients and partnersDevelop and execute sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed revenue targetsManage entire sales process from prospecting to closing deals and post-sales supportStay up to date with industry trends, competitors, and regulations affecting the defense marketRepresent the company at trade shows and industry events
Role Requirements:
B.S. or B.A. in business administration, marketing, or related field from an accredited university.5+ years’ experience in defense sales, with a proven track record of achieving sales targetsExcellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProficient in Microsoft office and CRM softwareWillingness to travel as neededUS Government position. US Citizenship required.
Role Preferences:
Relevant experience in unmanned or autonomous systems.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or likeCertifications from defense proposal classes such as Shipley associates or likeAbility to obtain a DoD US Secret Clearance.
