Job Description

What we are looking for

Ampd Energy is expanding into North America and seeking a head of business development for the region. This is a senior position reporting directly to Ampd’s CEO; you will be Ampd’s first hire and the face of Ampd in North America. The remit is broad and exciting, including signing up our first customers and partners, developing marketing plans, setting up our office and establishing relationships with industry and government bodies and eventually, scaling the business up.

To succeed in this, you will need to be comfortable operating independently, and will need to take ownership–successes and failures–in respect of Ampd’s sales performance in the region.

You should be motivated, reliable, thorough, and excited about being among the first in the world to work with game-changing products. Our end-users and customers are geographically spread across the region and you need to travel to both meet customers/partners/users and visit project locations frequently. You are expected to be a clear, candid, and effective communicator and you need to be able to work well with different functional teams.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or a business-related field.
  • Strong, high energy communicator who takes a consultative sales approach and prioritises action.
  • Prior entrepreneurial experience is a bonus.
  • Comfortable working on your own, finding creative solutions to hard problems and then communicating these clearly back to the management team.
  • At least 7 years of prior experience related to business development with proven success, ideally in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Comfortable presenting innovative technology products in front of both small and large audiences.
  • Tech savvy: comfortable using various online (e.g. ERP, CRM, digital marketing tools, cloud productivity suites) and digital productivity (PowerPoint/Slides, Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs) tools.
  • Ability to pick up technical concepts quickly and be able to explain them simply to users and customers.

What you will be doing

  • Input and maintain our CRM database and the business development side of our ERP system.
  • Develop and manage marketing partners and build relationships with the local industry and governmental bodies.
  • Build, maintain and close a pipeline of sales opportunities using your network, energy and ability to build trust with individuals at all levels of an organization, from the site electricians to the boardroom.
  • Build-up an understanding of the customer or user pain-points by asking the right questions, then using this knowledge, create and present proposals which speak to the customer or user.
  • Be the face of Ampd at conferences and events; must be comfortable presenting to an audience.
  • Collaborate with the company’s manufacturing team to ensure production volumes and delivery schedules are aligned with market demand.
  • Collaborate with the company's engineers to ensure the product fits the user and customer needs in North America.
  • Developing sales and marketing plans for the NA market. Obtain the green light for such plans by socializing, presenting and defending the plans with the company’s executive team.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with company stock options
  • Medical Insurance
