JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Evaluate general and specific business conditions and keep executive team informed on these matters, as well as participate with other Executives in developing strategy and corporate objectives and plans for their achievement, including key investment criteria and thresholds.
- Develop and prepare short-term and long-range development plans and budgets based on corporate goals and objectives and recommends their adoption to members of the Executive Team.
- Ensure post acquisition synergies and expected performance targets are met during and after the business integration period.
- Interface and communicate effectively with all company departments.
- Partner with business leaders before, during and after the M&A processes, to ensure the deals make strategic sense, fit with forward-looking business plans, and are integrated smoothly and fully optimized.
- Provide effective decision framework to the Executive Leadership Team to assess the quality of potential acquisitions, divestitures, or other strategic transactions.
- Build, manage, and lead the Tenet corporate development team. Develop a robust M&A pipeline management process, inclusive of potential divestitures.
- Develop and guide due diligence and negotiations for new opportunities as well as ensuring the accurate and timely valuation of acquisition targets.
- Direct and organize activities to achieve or exceed budgeted results and other financial criteria to enhance the growth and value of the company.
- Secure and collaborative leadership style; able to seek input and counsel from a wide constituency, without losing decisiveness or the ability to take action and inspire others to action, as appropriate.
- Ability to develop a sound organizational structure, mentor managers and work with new concepts and fix broken ones.
- Represent the organization at all times; participate as an integral part of the executive management team and express their views appropriately; be supportive of other managers; and set an example of high personal and professional conduct and integrity for employees and others.
- Ability to drive a complex M&A process and possess a sales and customer service mindset.
- Strong strategic decision-making capabilities with the understanding of inherent risks, and the implications of decisions and the courage to commit appropriate resources within the context of the strategy.
- Ability to create a following throughout an organization by communicating a clear and inspiring vision for engaging an entire organization in achieving an overall strategic objective.
- Strong operational, negotiating and strategic skills with the ability to understand and define markets, customers and develop plans to grow market share. Courage and openness in seeking input and counsel from various sources without abdicating responsibility for timely and forceful decision making.
- Ability to identify priorities and drive them to completion.
- Experience in selling a concept and service versus a product.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo by encouraging openness to new ideas and aggressively changing existing strategies, current structures, systems and processes to better utilize resources and take advantage of opportunities.
- The successful candidate will have been recognized for excellence in executing his/her national development responsibilities and corporate management duties in a comparably large and complex organization, or in advising clients of a similar scale as an investment banker in a bulge bracket firm.
- Experience working with health systems whose recognition and reputation for excellence and quality place them at or near the top of the U.S. healthcare delivery system. In addition, experience in a high-growth, for-profit and fast paced company is a must.
- The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, and an MBA or relevant graduate degree is preferred.
