Description/Job Summary

This position is responsible for the procurement of quality goods and services at the most competitive price while meeting required delivery times of the plant. Also directs the activities of the shipping department.

Responsibilities/Duties

Manages off-site warehouses.

Summarizes monthly raw material inventory.

Sources requisitioned items, collects bids and proposals for goods and services.

Negotiates best possible terms of purchase of goods and services in terms of payment and delivery.

Ensures vendors deliver items which meet specification.

Administer service and supply contracts to ensure continuous operation of items that contract pertains to.

Monitors vendor performance and maintains relationship with each vendor.

Maintains an approved primary source and secondary source for all goods and services.

Supports the operation of the plant in the most economical way.

Provides accurate information of prices in order to make forecasts and predications.

Resolves variances in billing by vendors.

Ensures smooth progression of items through US Customs to plant.

Directs purchasing employees and contractors on daily job duties.

Directs shipping personnel to ensure efficient delivery of goods to customers.

Required Experience

A minimum of five years experience in a purchasing role.

At least three years experience must be in a manufacturing environment.

A college degree is preferred.

Shipping experience desired.

Must have knowledge of custom issues and the ability to maintain smooth progression of items through US Customs.

Preferred Qualifications

Literate in Microsoft Office.

Working knowledge of a database software.
