Global Purchasing Manager Jobs

Manage the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of the purchasing team. Develop goals, accountabilities and objectives directly connected to STF’s long-term strategy.

Negotiate and execute purchase orders and/or vendor contracts as needed to support critical business needs.

Use competitive bidding to obtain the best overall value for the company

Collaborate with plant functional areas, purchasing team and joint ventures to effectively identify synergies and document cost savings opportunities to completion.

Maintain measurable performance metrics to include supplier performance, supplier quality, internal order placement performance, buyer activity levels, and material shortage elimination.

Act as a subject matter expert.

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business Administration, or Engineering with Supply Chain Management Experience required

· 3 years of management of an indirect material crib

· Direct management of Crib Supervisor(s)

· Cooperate within teams to carry out tasks and responsibilities

· Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience of 3 or more years in the steel industry, required.

Knowledge of prime & secondary flat rolled steel.

Strong experience in Excel and operating in ERP systems.

Background in metallurgy highly preferred

Previous management experience a plus.

Preferred Certifications include APICS, Lean Green Belt, Project Management Professional.

Support purchasing team hands on and fill any gaps on purchasing execution requirements.

Monitor and evaluate vendors’ performance to comply with quality system requirements.

5+ years previous experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Sourcing, or a similar role.

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, capital equipment with high mix/low volume a plus.

-2 years of leadership/management experience

Required minimum of 2 years of purchasing/procurement experience. 

Prefer experience in manufacturing or health care industries.

· Play a major role in Site Inventory reviews to determine and manage inventory needs.

· Investigates alternative suppliers offering equivalent goods on more cost-effective terms.

· Assist Group Supply Chain Manager in achieving the Group KPI and Cost Reduction targets.

Interview vendors and evaluate their products and capabilities as a supplier.

Negotiate and purchase raw materials, packaging and finished goods while managing inventory levels.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Auditory and visual abilities to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.

2-3 years’ experience in purchasing or related field.

Strong communication skills and the ability to handle potential tense interactions with clients.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

Minimum seven years of experience in Supply Chain Management, preferably in a multi-unit food service and/or manufacturing organization.

Strong management skills and ability to attract, retain, motivate and develop team members for high performance

Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and procurement best practices.

Broad professional and managerial skills with an understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as FDA requirements, ISO standards, and other applicable industry guidelines.

Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and market developments that could impact procurement strategies and supplier capabilities.

Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate and timely payment processing, budget control, and cost tracking.

Coordinate and manage the efforts of Purchasing Agents.

Manage timely, profitable returns of materials no longer needed in the field.

Manage materials that are non-returnable in the most profitable manner.

High school diploma or GED equivalent, continued/ongoing education and training related to purchasing functions.

Strong analytical and communication skills

Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry

5-10 years’ experience, including at least two years in a management position in purchasing and materials management.

Hands on experience sourcing from domestic and best-cost offshore suppliers

Manage supplier relationships, including regular visits to supplier sites

Collaborate with design engineering, operations, materials and production planning, and finance professionals in forecasting demand and appropriate inventory levels.

Bachelor’s degree required. Certification by APICS as a CPIM or similar is a plus.

Should have experience with supplier sourcing and development, including site visits for evaluating or negotiating with vendors.

Must possess solid management skills and expertise.

Strategic purchasing experience as it relates to supplier relations, sourcing and contract management.

Working knowledge/experience in electronics, machining, stamping or casting is a plus.

Identify / manage supplier constraints. Create and implement contingency plans.

Follow defined Supplier Qualification procedures for identifying and qualifying resources for new or existing material and service needs.

Performs daily job responsibilities with the utmost integrity and trust.

Minimum 5 years of management experience.

Review and approve all orders in compliance with the limits of authority as set by management.

Coordinate with the Project/Program Managers for resolution of problems.
