Property & Energy Underwriting

With minimal supervision, independently contributes to the growth and profitability of assigned specialty product line(s) through marketing, underwriting and managing of products and services of complex risks. Risks may require special handling or unusual coverages.

Has distinct accountability for business results for assigned specialty product lines. Requires extensive level of knowledge of assigned product lines, exceptional strategic and marketing capabilities as well as technical knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques.

May serve as a product line expert or provide product-line expertise to department. Establishes and maintains broker strategy building relationships to facilitate the marketing of Liberty Mutual Energy products. Underwrites new and renewal business of complex accounts.

This is a hands-on underwriting role with the Property & Energy team, with no direct reports at this time. The role manages the book of business and manages relationships with brokers.

This role requires 10-25% travel along the entire east coast to a territory spanning from Maine to Florida.

• Strong verbal and written communications, and organizational skills
• Requires an advanced knowledge of insurance underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, computers and product competition within the marketplace
• The ability to effectively interact with brokers and internal departments
• Strong negotiation, analytical and decision making skills also required
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training plus at least 6 years of relevant and progressively more responsible production underwriting experience
