Construction Underwriting Officer Jobs

• Act as a technical subject matter expert in industries and lines of business (Worker`s Compensation, Auto, General Liability, Property, Umbrella) to drive the development of underwriting strategy and underwriting guidelines; responsibility for building strong understanding of market dynamics and underwriting challenges in states that fall within assigned geographic territory.
• Maintain the highest underwriting authority level.
• Provides technical expertise and knowledge to assigned projects and initiatives.
• Proactively identify training needs and partner with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver needed training to build an elite underwriting organization with technical knowledge, consultative sales capabilities, and expertise across the multitude of industries and lines of business.
• Drive execution of the segment strategy for a division to attain profit, quality, growth, multi line diversification, and operational objectives by providing transactional support and technical guidance throughout the underwriting process, including exercising decision making authority on risk selection, pricing, and terms and conditions for the largest and most complex accounts within the portfolio.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to identify adherence to guidelines and strategies, as well as training and development opportunities.
• Drive an underwriting culture of holistic thinking about risk evaluation, terms and conditions, pricing, and leverage market knowledge and experience to help underwriter`s position in market to select and win profitable accounts.

Qualifications

• Recognized ability to apply underwriting and appetite, tools, systems, and resources to achieve goals, solve complex problems, establish and build healthy working relationships, exceeds in mentoring relationships, and negotiate as normally acquired through a related bachelor`s degree, 10+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience preferred
• Renowned expert level knowledge of insurance products and coverage, market segments and marketplace; insurance finance and actuarial concepts; loss control and risk engineering; marketing and selling techniques, regulatory environment and reinsurance; expert level knowledge of underwriting, pricing, risk selection, territory management
• Solution oriented with ability to effectively work with brokers, underwriters, and internal departments to establish and maintain productive relationships
