Summary:
Omaha's STEM Ecosystem and Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium are seeking a Marketing Coordinator to support the Omaha STEM Ecosystem (OSE) in marketing and advertising efforts, including the STEM Community Platform, in addition to creating and editing content. This position focuses on strategy, channel optimization, execution, reporting, writing, and editing. This position is grant funded and a key role within the organizations marketing and communications team. This position reports directly to the Omaha STEM Ecosystem Director.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to): The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the organizations marketing and advertising efforts.
- Maintaining and keeping current the company's messaging.
- Create PowerPoint Presentations for events or presentations.
- Reporting site traffic metrics on a regular basis for both the OSE and STEM Community Platforms.
- Engaging in the STEM community, including attending and hosting events.
- Leveraging measurement tools to provide progress reports and insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.
- Attend OSE committee meetings, offering support when needed.
- Supporting the fundraising teams efforts through strategy, graphic design, and content creation.
- Providing administrative support, as needed.
- Develop, execute, and evaluate email marketing campaigns for OSE and SCP programs.
- Provide front-line monitoring and response to online reviews and posts from current and potential users and partners.
- Assist in interviewing sources and writing stories and press releases for internal and external audiences.
- Design and create content for web projects alongside team.
- Assist in growing and evolving the OSE/SCP brand visually.
- Serve as a community liaison for the OSE, including monitoring all social properties, creating unique, engaging content, and participating in social media on behalf of the company.
- Assist in developing graphic design pieces for web, email, social media and print mediums.
- Respond to questions from site users via phone and email.
- Communicate and advocate for the OSE brand internally and with product owners.
- Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy as needed.
- Make timely website updates for OSEs website
- Validate the creation and dissemination of content onto key social platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Review and prepare content, and coordinate production deadlines for social media marketing efforts.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient and confident in producing content for web, email, and print mediums
- Creative thinking and ability to strategize
- Strong writing, public relations, and communication skills
- Highly organized and thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with WordPress CMS
- Social media experience or familiarity with social media platforms and best practices
- Experience in writing or editing, with AP Style experience.
- Adhere to deadlines and team priorities
- Event experience.
- BS/BA in business, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required
- At least 2 years of professional experience.
- Have experience with building, executing, and tracking marketing email campaigns
- Strong photography skills.
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative team environment
- Attention to detail
- Experience managing a brands social media
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Position requires sitting and standing for long periods
- Ability to walk across Zoo campus
- Ability to see and hear by reading documents, computer screen, answering phones, communicating in person
- Ability to work in a fast-paced physical environment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20- 25 lbs.
- Ability to use hands to signal, project voice and hear through headsets
