OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
- This candidate will be able to work together with his or her supervisor to seamlessly provide consistent support to the in vitro biology team by supporting tasks related to iPSC-related work and assay development.
- The ideal candidate will contribute to experimental design and complex problem resolution within project scope. Will be responsible maintaining cell culture, developing in vitro assays and implementing new technologies that will improve efficiency and quality.
- We are looking for a collaborative and highly motivated Sr. Research Associate II to join our In Vitro Biology Team which conducts Research in NeuroInflammation/Neurodegeneration, based in San Diego. The primary role will be to contribute to research efforts across multiple innovative programs. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic, be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ability to improve and develop new protocols/new assays and address key questions
- Independently conducts multiple complex experiments and/or tasks within a project scope, exercising judgement to evaluate a variety of technical factors, and obtain optimum solutions. This includes: application of basic molecular biology techniques, maintenance of mammalian cell line cultures, iPSC-cultures, perform cell line transfections, Western Blots, Fluorescent Microscopy imaging and perform/develop functional assays such as: ELISAs, chemotaxis and phagocytosis assays. Analyze and interpret data.
- Independently keeps abreast of current literature to increase knowledge base and implement improvements
Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise (Breadth and depth of knowledge, application and complexity of technical knowledge)
- Good knowledge of in vitro cell biology
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, GraphPad Prism, PowerPoint
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of currently assigned research methods.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge of neuroscience and in particular neuroinflammatory pathways
- In-depth expertise in: Molecular cloning, qPCR, DNA/RNA prep, Western Blot, Flow cytometry, Fluorescent Microscopy and HCI
- Understands specific scientific mechanisms and why a procedure works
- In-depth knowledge and expertise on tissue culture; recombinant cell lines, iPSC cell lines
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- MS in a scientific discipline, or equivalent with 2+ years experience
- BS in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) with 4+ years experience

- Base Salary Range: $81,900-$117,000 based on candidate professional experience level.
