Position : Molecular Biology Scientist (Must Molecular Biology Lab Work Exp Required)


Location : San Jose, CA

  • Works under general direction but may independently determine and define solutions to experimental problems.
  • This scientist will assist in the execution of assay development experiments and use independent data analysis and judgment to adapt and modify standard assay development techniques to solve assay or protocol challenges.
  • The position also involves the ability to execute experiments independently and evaluate, discuss, present, and explain materials of moderate complexity.
  • Follows established procedures, including standard product development processes.
  • The Scientist is a member of the single-cell genomics Product Development R&D team and will assist in the development and evaluation of new single-cell genomic assays, enhancements to existing assays, and instrument protocols.


Primary Duties Include The Following


  • Works under general supervision with moderate supervision.
  • Tabulates and analyzes experimental data of moderate complexity.
  • Contributes to the development of new procedures and user guides including writing, editing, and providing input.
  • Supports the development of new single-cell genomics assays and technologies.
  • Follows protocols, prepares technical product development reports and summaries.
  • Performs experiments to evaluate and optimize, verify, and validate new assay methods, under the general supervision of a senior-level scientist.
  • Presents data at group meetings.


Minimum Knowledge And Skills


  • NGS based assay experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with complex assays/protocols, e.g., NGS library preparation, etc.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to keep accurate and complete laboratory records and logs.
  • Familiarity with the operation of routine molecular biology laboratory instruments.
  • Understanding of biostatistics principle. Data analysis using Excel or similar programs.
  • General knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.


Education And Experience


  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a biological science discipline
  • Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) experience preferred
  • Molecular biology lab work experience required
