Vir Biotechnology is looking for a highly talented and motivated individual to join our Immune Targeting team to handle challenges spanning discovery research, pre-clinical development, and support to clinical trial programs. You will report to a Sr. Scientist and work with other teams and external consultants to participate in discovery immunology research efforts aimed at identifying and characterizing novel therapeutic agents. This role is based in our San Francisco lab facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

• You will maintain a high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety.
• Help order supplies, make reagents, and maintain the laboratory to conduct necessary activities.
• Maintain project timelines and participate in team meetings.
• Seek opportunities to improve and learn.
• Document activities, keeping accurate records of experimental details and results related to assigned projects.
• You will be responsible for the optimization, execution, and analysis of in vitro and ex vivo immunologic assays.
• Performs research on projects working with gDNA purification, molecular cloning, next-generation sequencing, ELISA, flow cytometry and lentiviral generation/transduction.
• You will work under management of scientists to conduct scientific research using cutting-edge immunologic assays.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field with 2+ year experience in a biotech, medical laboratory, or academic setting.
• Prior experience in antibody therapeutics or T cell biology in tumor immunology or autoimmunity would be advantageous.
• Experience and familiarity with multiparameter flow cytometry and or fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS).
• Professional communication skills.
• Experience in mammalian cell culture (Primary cell culture and immortalized cell lines) is required.
• Laboratory experience in immunological assays such as functional T and B cell assays, Incucyte, ELISA and cytokine measurement by MSD.
• Ability to independently manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
