The Consumables Beauty Tech team is looking for a Sr Manager, UX Design who will own the reinvention of the Beauty Shopping experience on Amazon to support the mission of the business in becoming US’ No.1 trusted Beauty destination. Coupled with this mission the Sr Manager, UX Design will also take on an NAS wide design reinvention charter to reinvent the Premium Shopping Experience for Amazon Stores making this role a high visibility and UX Design thought leadership role.This role includes driving strategic initiatives, distilling diverse inputs and collaborating across the org to set a vision and achieve consensus, and enabling the small design team to multiply the impact. In 2023, the Sr Manager, UX Design will also take on the charter to reinvent the Premium Shopping Experience NAS-wide through design reinvention. Beyond, we will accelerate the pace of delivery across all our BT pillars and will need to grow the design organization. We need a seasoned and high judgement leader that can manage the team organizational design and manage other managers as the team grows.The UX Design team are core members of the wider 50 HC Beauty Tech org and will work in close collaboration with product and engineering teams. The Beauty Tech org has three ambitious product and tech charters, which the Sr Manager, UX Design will concurrently lead:(1) Reinvention of Beauty Shopping Experience focusing on re-imagining the experience on Amazon to shift Beauty shopping from a reliable reorder experience to an inspirational discovery led experience. (2) Beauty Recommendations, rethinking how personalization can enable a seamless shopping experience for beauty customers and finally (3) innovating on AR/VR domains by step changing the experiential nature of our shopping experience with Virtual Try On (VTO) and Computer Vision based skin diagnostics. As a Sr Manager, UX Design you will be required to manage two additional UX designers in delivering this charter.As a Sr Manager, UX Design on the Consumables Design team, you are a hands-on leader who establishes the design vision and strategy, scale impact by empowering other designers on the team, are a key contributor to design artifacts. You should be at ease creating scenarios, sketches, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to visualize an experience in the abstract, break down complex use cases and then be able to drive the vision into solid design deliverables. You think first from the customer’s perspective, use research and data to influence your designs, set relentlessly high standards and deliver best-in-class customer experiences. You thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and balance your passion for inspired, compelling, elegant yet simple designs with precise execution, and a relentless drive to design, build and deliver. Ideally, you have experience in Shopping design and are familiar with Amazon Retail Design systems.Key job responsibilities* Design and deliver innovative, high-quality design solutions that meet business and customer needs for the beauty category and beyond to drive a cohesive experience for Amazon customers* You think big, framing designs in the context of the broader customer experience, and are equally comfortable diving deep into the details.* Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of designers to deliver beautiful, highly effective solutions that drive customer satisfaction and business growth for the beauty domain* Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as product management, engineering, marketing, and business development to understand customer needs, business requirements, and market opportunities* Identify new and innovative ways to make Amazon a beauty destination, leveraging customer insights, user research, market trends, and industry best practices* Advocate for the customer by ensuring their voice is heard throughout the design process and their needs are reflected in the final product* Set the vision and strategy for design within the Beauty team, creating a roadmap that aligns with business goals and customer needs*Set the North Star Vision for Premium Shopping Experience for NAS as well as the MVPs to enable us get there.* Influence partner teams for cross-category collaboration and work with design leaders across the org to ensure consistency and quality in design across Amazon stores* Act as a thought leader in the design community, sharing your knowledge and expertise (frameworks, interaction models, prototypes, research) to advance the practice of design at Amazon*Ownership of 3YP for NAS-wide Premium Shopping Experience Design and Beauty Shopping ExperienceAbout the teamAmazon Beauty Tech is a rapidly expanding division within the Consumables organization.   • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver large scale design initiatives with a bias toward scalable systems and patterns
  • Strong design thinking, human centered design skills
  • Experience designing for considerations including accessibility, scale, growth, discovery, localization, and personalization in the beauty category
  • Desire to work in a start-up style environment, where experimentation and iteration is encouraged
  • Understanding of how development informs design and interaction decisions
  • Proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback and input from business leaders, product management, and engineering (working directly with developers for implementation of designs)
  • Preferred eCommerce and/or retail design experience. Experience working on beauty or related products, with a focus on premium design is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
