UX/UI Design Manager
Summary:
The UX/UI Design Manager is responsible for the design, strategy, and development of public-facing web properties that meet the goals and objectives of ACC and the Office of College Relations and Marketing (OCRM). He or she will ensure a positive user experience for prospective student program exploration, enrollment, community members, and the public.

This position is an integral part of the OCRM Web Team. The UX/UI Design Manager will work closely with interdepartmental team members and cross-college partners. They will manage institutional web design standards which are developed, distributed, and managed from this office in a collaborative fashion across the college. This position is required to effectively give and receive feedback, explore solutions, and incorporate their expertise and that of others, to create the best web-based properties possible.

Description of Duties and Tasks
  • Facilitates workshops and other cross-college working groups in order to gather requirements and other information needed for design related projects, as well as communicate information and updates regarding web design standards at ACC.
  • Collaborates with team members and stakeholders to develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
  • Advocates for data-driven design solutions that include business and user goals, persona usage data, customer journeys, and research findings.
  • Works alongside web designers, content creators, technical administrators, and other product managers throughout all stages of the production cycle.
  • Creates user experience flows, site maps, wireframes, and prototypes that align with website goals and milestones.
  • Designs for a variety of audiences and personas, beyond wireframes and prototyping, to include web marketing design and visual design for new and existing web pages
  • Presents design work, research reports, and other analysis to cross departmental teams and leadership for review and feedback.
  • Manages projects using agile methodologies to ensure quality assurance is maintained from initial concept through to deployment.
  • Assesses and optimizes the performance of new and existing web properties by actively conducting user research and assessing performance metrics.
  • Leads the design direction for new experiences and improvements of existing experiences on public facing websites throughout the strategy, design, and development life-cycle.
  • Creates innovative, digital solutions for a wide variety of user types, including prospective and current students, parents and the community, and faculty and staff.
  • Researches and recommends strategies for the direction of future improvements to existing web properties and new websites at ACC.
Knowledge
  • Managed design related products through all aspects of the development cycle in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with UX/UI patterns and principles including research, implementation, and results reporting.
  • Experience creating prototypes and/or wireframes for complex web-based user journeys, interactions, and workflows.
  • Created meaningful, data driven reports and presentations that validate design decisions.
  • Developed benchmarks and other metrics for digital properties for comparison and reporting purposes
Skills
  • Usability and prototype testing and evaluation, and developing refinement workflows.
  • Develop customer journey maps and flowcharts.
  • Strong design sensibilities with experience in UX design, web marketing design, and visual design.
  • Use of user persona development and user research tools.
  • Translate approved wireframes into high quality UI designs and interactive prototypes based on documented requirements, goals and objectives.
  • Interpret click, scroll, and engagement maps .
  • Build and deploy user-survey forms and questionnaires .
  • Familiar with the concept of responsive and adaptive front end interface development.
  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of subordinate personnel.
  • Familiarity with solutions to cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Proficient in agile project management environments.
  • A/B Testing implementation and interpretation.
  • Wireframe and mockup prototyping .
  • Maintaining an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Technology Skills
  • Use of UX Design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, and other related tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in web markup, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
  • Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program will satisfy the supervisory experience required for this position.
  • Three years of related work experience and one year of supervisor experience.
Preferred Work Experience
  • Three or more years of industry experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar design-related role which may not include unpaid internships.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in UX, HCI (Human Computer Interaction), visual design, or a related field
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
