Job Description

23andMe is looking for an experienced UX Researcher to help us build intuitive, logical and delightful experiences for our customers. You excel at deciphering consumer interests and behaviors through both quantitative and qualitative methods, and creating clear, actionable recommendations that improve the customer experience. This role will be working with all aspects of the Consumer Organization, focusing on areas such as consumer experience, UI design and evaluation, navigation flow, information architecture, and product testing.

You will be part of the Consumer Insights Team, a dynamic, cross-departmental service organization with a charter to represent the voice of the consumer and customer in everything we do. As the second member of the UX Research team, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of user research in a mission-driven organization developing cutting-edge products and services.

Who We Are
Since 2006, 23andMe's mission has been to help people access, understand, and benefit from the human genome. We are a group of passionate individuals pushing the boundaries of what's possible to help turn genetic insight into better health and personal understanding.

What You'll Do

  • Develop research roadmaps for the product teams and workstreams you support, effectively scoping and prioritizing needs across the product organization.
  • Communicate and socialize research findings clearly and compellingly. Summarize data in a presentation and recommendations across the organization confidently and on short timelines.
  • Collaborate in developing a culture of user research at 23andMe that keeps the consumer at the heart of product decision making while balancing the constraints and needs of the business.
  • Leverage strong communication skills to manage internal and external (vendor) relationships.
  • Partner with product and design to integrate research throughout the product development lifecycle, from strategic discovery research to evaluative usability testing.
  • Manage a variety of studies utilizing primarily qualitative methods, including 1:1 interviews, usability studies, diary studies, card sorting / tree testing, customer journey mapping, focus groups, and ethnographic studies.

What You'll Bring

  • Passion for advocating for consumers and leveraging research findings to foster decision-making throughout the organization.
  • Ability to proactively develop effective partnerships with product, design, and analytics.
  • In-depth experience leveraging a variety of methodologies to independently manage projects end-to-end.
  • The ability to deliver in a fast paced environment with a high level of professionalism, remaining flexible, proactive, and resourceful.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deliver written and oral presentations to different constituencies of all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Intellectual curiosity and innate desire to answer the big questions that will propel the organization forward.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting UX research inside of a product organization. A strong background working with the best UX tools and methods to turn data into actionable insights.
