Sr Director, Information Technology



The Sr. Director, Information Technology is a thought leader and an agent of productive change at Winland Foods. Owns and drives the lifecycle for components of the Winland Foods IT Ecosystem and is accountable for prudent deployment of resources across multiple teams. Considered a working leader at Winland Foods, contributes leadership and experience to areas inside and outside their area of responsibility in support of multiple highly complex large-scale initiatives. Highly engaged with Sr. Management in determining, driving and optimizing IT strategies that help enable successful business transformation and contribute to corporate growth. Owns and directs cross functional strategic initiatives involving multiple highly complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Establish organizational goals along with internal and business focused IT performance standards to drive aligned team performance and continuous improvement that aligns with corporate vision. Leads a team of directors/managers, direct reports and/or contingent workers and viewed as a senior leader of leaders. Boundlessly develops effective leaders across the organization and is deeply invested in the development of strong and collaborative teams throughout IT. Cultivates and effectively leverages productive relationships with strategic suppliers that benefit Winland Foods. Demonstrates confidence in self and brings out confidence in others. Demonstrates impeccable judgment. Coaches and mentors to instinctively know how and when to adjust communication style appropriate to the audience and subject matter. Knows how and when to own the room vs. allowing others to. Is widely respected across the organization fostering strong relationships and partnerships with Sr. Management. Consistently demonstrates sound judgment and able to personally, and oversee others, successfully navigate high visibility high stakes topics. Develops others to Instinctively understand the difference between optics and execution, and when to emphasize one over the others. Coaches and mentor’s others to require minimal direction, and thrive with little need for escalation.


Position Responsibilities


Human Capital Development Management


  • Directly lead and contribute knowledge expertise to significant portions of the IT career development procedures and processes.
  • Build highly effective leaders and leadership teams at all levels that operate with trust and without bounds to ensure success.
  • Closely collaborate with Human Resources and peers to fill personnel vacancies and enable career opportunities.
  • Oversee others, and personally, actively participate in staff calibration activities and talent management reviews.
  • Ensure effective development and delivery of Performance Reviews and midyear reviews for all assigned and (when applicable) matrixed personnel.
  • Develop each of his/her assigned team members by fully leveraging all facets of IT career development.
  • Oversee others, and personally, actively coach others toward demonstrating all behaviors defined by the Winland Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Oversee processes associated with creation of individual development plans and associated training plans for assigned personnel to ensure that they are both feasible and in line with organizational goals.


Business Partner / Supplier Relations and Product Delivery


  • Effectively measure and report results of service and development work to Sr. Management, business partners in terms that they see as valuable and understandable.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of initiatives with Sr. Management and growth focused business transformation activities.
  • In collaboration with Sr. Management and suppliers, oversee the process to ensure ongoing execution/continuous improvement of measured service level objectives balanced with cost control.
  • Build and nurture senior level partnerships throughout Winland Foods that promote mutual trust.
  • Anticipate future information technology needs based upon business trends and collaborate with internal and external suppliers to successfully deliver solutions that address them.
  • Breakdown strategic initiatives into multiple manageable components of work and ensure delivery on time, within budget and in accordance with specified levels of quality.
  • Develop and leverage partnerships (and relationships) with Sr. Management, business partners and suppliers to meet business needs.


Change Leadership


  • Ensure frequent, continuous and effective communications across IT, with key suppliers, Sr. Management and business partners via both formal and informal channels / mechanisms.
  • Develop, execute and sponsor organization change management vehicles/programs/campaigns and initiatives using established methods to support the introduction of IT deliverables.
  • Successfully manage change at senior levels of Winland Foods resulting in effective delivery of IT solutions that bring maximum business value.
  • Successfully sponsor "Change” resulting in effective delivery of IT solutions that bring maximum business value to the Winland Foods.


Process and Technology Management


  • Hold others accountable to ensure disciplined and consistent use of established methodologies, tools and techniques to plan, organize, actuate and control delivery of IT products and services.
  • Benchmark IT performance against industry leaders and take action to fill gaps.
  • Oversee team(s) to ensure they Innovate and continuously improve IT internal work and management processes.
  • Lead others to exploit available processes and technology.


Planning and Fiscal Management


  • Oversee others, and personally, define/refine IT service and product strategies.
  • Provide direction on multiple large-scale resource plans that enable successful business operations and, when application, business transformation.
  • Ensure (owned and matrixed) resources are allocated in line with tactical plans and in consideration of strategic priorities.
  • In concert with Sr. Management, effectively collaborate with customers to construct, continuously update and drive successful execution of specified (owned) portions of the IT Strategies.
  • Oversee team(s) adherence to assigned project(s) and operational budgets.


Qualifications And Requirements


  • Required to interpret or clarify highly complex technical information across multiple areas to aid understanding.
  • Conveys highly complex information and persuades several diverse stakeholders/audiences both within and outside of area of responsibility.
  • Requires objective review of multiple highly complex work problems, obtaining cooperation or approval across IT and business Sr. Management.
  • Develops recommendations to promote multiple highly complex ideas or services to Sr. Management across multiple functions.
  • Reconciles multiple stakeholder views, requiring awareness, respect, and the ability to reconcile cross- functional differences.
  • Knowledge and experience of key tools within respective area (see Addendum).
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required – Type: Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Knowledge and experience of core competencies within respective area (see Addendum), preferably within Consumer Products, Manufacturing, Food and/or Private Label industries.
  • Exchanges highly complex technical and/or nontechnical information with Sr. Management level internal and external audiences.
  • Travel – up to 40% depending on assignments
  • Requires 15+ years Information Technology/position related experience, minimum of 12+ years leadership experience.
