Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Director/Director of Information Technology will provide general oversight of the company’s Information Technology infrastructure, provisioning, planning, installation and operations, including managing the system hardware, operating systems, telephone system, software applications and the help desk. He or she will be the lead in providing the direction, vision and strategies capable of delivering the highest caliber technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the organization’s internal stakeholders on developing requirements to be delivered through technology and ensure effective interaction and communication among the technology team, internal customers and third party vendors.
- Implement an effective IT project management process so that technology resources are deployed to projects optimally and ensure effective project management processes to deliver projects on time and under budget.
- Comfortable in a hands-on environment, promote collaboration, and streamline and integrate technology management policies, programs, and practices that can be linked successfully to the organization’s mission, business objectives, and results.
- Ability to travel to the Company’s corporate offices on a periodic basis (i.e. monthly and/or as demands of the business require)
- Initially functioning as an individual contributor, and then directing a small professional staff, the Senior Director/Director will be responsible for organizing, streamlining, implementing, and directing all technological strategic and operational activities, including development of a cybersecurity strategy
- Ensure the right mix of in-house and external resources to optimize the range of capability, speed, cost and flexibility.
- Will stay abreast of the latest technologies, trends, platforms, concepts and tools, and lead the technology organization in proactively identifying areas where technology can support and enhance the overall business strategy.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and development to the organization, and promote effective teamwork especially within the project teams.
- Identify, develop, and manage appropriate technology partners and vendor relationships, including onsite, remote and outsourced resources.
- Involved in the forward-looking aspects of the business and make recommendations to senior management to ensure that the company’s technology strategies are structured to meet the future needs of the business.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
Experience
- Financially and technologically astute, and able to balance the needs of the marketplace and the organization through the exercise of sound business judgement.
- Experience with 21 CFR Part II and FDA guidance documents on the principles of software validation are essential.
- Possess deep experience in determining the true financial, resource, quality, and cultural impact of different information technology alternatives.
- Strategic understanding of technology systems development and excel at their practical application.
- Comfortable in working on multiple initiatives simultaneously, and continually advance all of the technology needs of a company that is significantly scaling up its business.
- IT infrastructure/Cybersecurity experience and understanding with extensive day-to-day IT operations experience.
- A demonstrated understanding of technology architecture and the deployment of multi-functional technology platforms is required, as are strong project management skills.
- Able to function effectively in a diverse, rapidly growing entrepreneurial organization, deal effectively and decisively with organizational issues and opportunities.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience working in IT in a pharma/biotech environment.
- Experience with best practice, leading edge companies in small to medium sized pharmaceutical and or life science business is required.
- Successful implementation and management of O360 environments both cloud only and integrated with on premise Active Directory
- Successful build out and maintenance of cloud native infrastructure environments
