Job Description

Sr. Director, Global Supply & Demand Planning


The Sr. Director, Global Supply & Demand Planning is responsible for driving the S&OP process and developing and executing the overall demand planning and inventory strategy for all marketing channels across the Pens.com and Goldstar businesses. This role will support the Global Merchandising, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Finance, and Customer Care teams with best practices, methodologies, and processes to ensure accurate demand forecasting and inventory optimization. He/she role directly manages and leads a team of planners and analysts who are responsible for collecting, interpreting, and using historical data, market trends, and customer insights to forecast future demand, aligning it with the company's objectives and growth plans. He/she will also lead the team responsible for monitoring and controlling inventory levels, ensuring efficient stock. This role will also be highly collaborative, building strong partnerships with the leadership team to create an exceptional experience for our customers while driving profitable growth.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


Lead the S&OP process that drives consensus across the business to balance supply and demand

  • Share insights to ensure effective coordination between Demand Planning and other business functions.
  • Align demand forecasts with inventory planning and operational strategies
  • Conduct regular Demand Review Meetings with key stakeholders from the Global Merchandising, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Finance, and Customer Care teams
  • Collect historical sales data and seek information about events that could affect demand, such as last-minute promotions and production delays

Collect data from internal and external sources on factors known to predict or influence demand

  • Gather quantitative data from various sources, such as order and shipment sales data, to understand past demand patterns
  • Stay updated on market trends, industry developments, and emerging customer behaviors that may impact demand
  • Work closely with the Merchandising, e-Commerce Marketing (Site, Paid, SEO, and Email), Direct Mail, and Telesales teams to gather insights and understand channel growth, site behaviors, historical demand patterns, and product trends
  • Collect relevant marketing, customer, and market intelligence data, including promotional activities, customer behavior, and market trends

Analyze historical sales data, market trends, customer insights, and inventory consumption to identify demand patterns and model data to project future demand and inventory needs

  • Develop scenario planning models to assess the impact of different variables on demand forecasts and inventory supply
  • Incorporate demand signals and insights into the forecasting models
  • Utilize statistical analysis and demand planning software to identify and trends uncover patterns and relationships between different variables
  • Apply forecasting methodologies, such as time series analysis, regression analysis, or machine learning algorithms, to generate demand forecasts

Monitor, evaluate, and continually optimize demand forecasts and inventory plans

  • Stay updated with advancements in demand planning software and technology to leverage new tools and methodologies
  • Analyze deviations and identify the root causes, whether they are related to data quality, forecasting methodologies, inventory discrepancies, or external factors
  • Use feedback to continuously improve forecast accuracy
  • Seek opportunities to improve demand planning processes, data collection methods, forecasting techniques, and inventory control practices

Coach and develop Global Demand Planning team

  • Manage and mentor team responsible for projecting demand for two business units with multiple sales channels
  • Lead team responsible for inventory management
  • Ensure team is structured to align with company objectives and global merchandising strategy


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and SQL
  • 10+ years e-commerce analytical, planning, and inventory management experience, preferably managing thousands of SKUs
  • Ability to collect and analyze large amounts and project trends
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Prior experience leading transformation initiatives in change management and S&OP
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Goal orientated; ability to stay focused on delivering results
  • Experience Retail Math with Open-to-Buy planning
  • Team player, comfortable building effective relationships with business partners
  • Accountable and able to manage projects individually and work will as part of a team
  • Proven track record of driving profitability through effective forecasting and planning
  • Flexibility to work in a fast paced, quickly changing environment with multiple priorities
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, JAD, or similar demand planning software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Dynamic and powerful team leader

The range of the base salary for this role is $120k-$160k accompanied by a competitive benefits package.
