Sr. Accountant (Property Controller)

Suntex Marinas is a high- company investing exclusively in niche mixed-use marinas and their related operating platforms. We have acquired, developed, and operated over 70 full-service marinas which include retail spaces, office buildings, resorts, hotels, and restaurants.

The Property Controller is a key member of the Accounting department. Duties include working under the supervision of a Senior Regional Controller or Director. Property Controllers maintain and execute a variety of accounting procedures, including full cycle accounting and month-end and year-end closings for one or more marina properties, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and other ad-hoc requests throughout the year. Property Controllers must be able to resolve issues relating to proper accounting application, revenue recognition, internal controls, system troubleshooting, and process improvements. This Role will have significant interaction with many levels of the organization and people in all areas of the Region.

Essential Duties

• Assist FP&A in forward-looking projections
• Ad hoc projects as needed
• Present month-end results and budget to actual results to operations team
• Full cycle accounting and month-end close for multiple marina properties
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
• Partner with the operations team, including marina management, to prepare accurate and timely financial information, including budget to actual analyses
• Assist in quarter and year-end financial reporting
• Assist auditors with financial audits. Answer questions, review processes and gather required data for auditors
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensure procedures/controls are in place and working appropriately to safeguard company's assets
• Prepare monthly recurring journal entries

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus
• Self-starter, high-energy, eager to learn and grow
• Familiarity with US GAAP and internal controls
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
• Must possess excellent organizational skills
• Willing to work additional hours when necessary
• CPA or MBA (preferred)
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with an emphasis in accounting
