Junior Accountant Jobs

Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut is seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual who is interested in joining us in our mission to help others and serve our local communities.

As a Junior Accountant, you will assist the Accounting Department in the preparation and maintenance of company financial records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to accounts payable function.
• Reconcile daily cash each morning with store night drops.
• Reconcile monthly refuse tickets and post expenses to GL.
• Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
• Other duties as assigned, including some clerical work.
• Prepare invoices, set up and book monthly billing entries for Wahlstrom residences, Contracts, and Salvage.
• Provide support to retail division through assistance with POS systems.
• Receive and prepare all cash receipts for deposit. Enters receipts into MIP with corresponding GL and AR entries.
• Disburse petty cash in accordance with company guidelines.
• Provide support to maintain and reconcile AR balances for all consumers’ personal cash accounts.

Position Requirements:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficient use of computer and systems, including accounting software, and database products. Knowledge of purchasing and inventory software and Sage Accounting software program a plus.
• 1 - 3 years of accounting experience related to general ledger, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliation.
• 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Ability to work effectively and accurately under narrow time limitations, using time, equipment, and materials in the most efficient manner possible.
