Social Compliance Program Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Sumerra is currently looking to hire a detail-oriented, self-motivated, compliance professional to join our team as a Program Coordinator.This is a great opportunity to be involved with an industry-wide Social Compliance initiative within the Apparel and Footwear Global Supply Chain.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Your core responsibilities at Sumerra will include managing the day-to-day communication activities for a program we manage for an Oversight Organization in the apparel and footwear industry.

• Share any necessary information (ex. Trends or issues noticed) during the meetings
• Engage in external industry meetings, forums, etc. as needed.
• Develop the monthly user feedback summary reports.
• Join weekly client meetings, quarterly/annual client/brand meetings and ad hoc calls.Support with communicating meeting agendas, taking notes during meetings, and following up after the meeting with notes and setup/track action items.
• Client Management:

• Program Help Desk Management (Primary Responsibility):
• Setup/manage the external facing onboarding knowledge portal.
• Responsible for managing the program helpdesk by researching/responding to tickets or forwarding to the correct party (expectation is for the coordinator to respond to level 1 tickets and learn the program requirements over time)
• Develop/enhance the FAQs content for internal use.
• Responsible for tracking response times and following up on tickets awaiting response.
• Develop/enhance the FAQs content for external use.
• Develop/enhance systems for making the help desk more streamlined and robust.
• Provide analytics/reports to the team on a monthly basis related to the helpdesk aged tickets.

• Support the processing of Addendum requests from Verifier Bodies
• Support the review of Verifier and Verifier Body applications
• Perform initial steps of report data related compliant management – information gathering including engagement with external stakeholders
• Gather and analyze data for quarterly and annual meetings
• Assist with Other Program Needs as needed and as the program knowledge is expanded over time::
• Support the scheduling of onsite work (audits) globally
• Proof reading documents - SOPs, Email communications, newsletters, etc.
• Other tasks as needed
• Manage the Protocol Exception requests from Verifier Bodies
• Gather and analyze data for quarterly and annual reports

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLSETS/INTEREST

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in related field (Business, Human Rights, Environmental, Industrial/Occupational Hygiene, Safety, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and prior project management experience
• Minimum 1 year work experience in a brand, audit firm and/or related environment (internships considered as part of 1 year requirement)
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work with stakeholders in multiple countries and cultures in a positive manner
• Ideal person has a strong interest in CSR, labor/social compliance and/or global auditing
• Strong communication skills
• This position will require work outside of normal 8-5 business hours with early morning and late evening hours
• Must be adept with the handling of Systems and databases (Online Programs, excel, task management software, data analytics, etc.)
• This position may require domestic or international travel in the future (though minimal- maybe 1x year).
