Summary
The role of the Research Scientist or Senior Scientist is to serve in a leadership role to oversee the design, execution, and data analysis of analytical test methods, in accordance with nanoparticle-based antigen and assay development.
·The key responsibilities of this role will be to perform and coordinate the development, transfer, optimization, and qualification/validation of analytical test methods.
·The ideal candidate will have advanced, practical, as well as theoretical, knowledge and experience with multiple analytical methods in immunology and virology. These assays include, but are not limited to, solid phase binding assays, cell-based assays, pseudovirus assays, ELISA, FACS, PCR, molecular cloning, transfection as well as mammalian tissue culture.
·This position will oversee and coordinate the execution of assigned analytical development activities, related testing, data organization, interpretation, and reporting of results timely.
·This individual will also ensure laboratory instruments and equipment are used properly, as well as maintenance and calibrations are up to date. The Scientist will author, edit, and review standard operating procedures (SOPs), Test Methods, Qualification and Validation protocols, and reports.
·The successful candidate must be capable of thriving in a matrix environment, regularly interfacing with researchers at different skill levels.
·The Scientist/Senior Scientist will also serve as technical lead for one or more projects, which will require interaction with clients, and/or other external collaborators or sponsors, while also meeting project goals and timelines.
·This position can be Research Scientist and/or Senior Scientist based on the knowledge and experiences.
Responsibilities
·Collaboratively design diverse research projects, and supervise junior researchers focused on development of immunological reagent development and assay methods.
·Innovate and collaborate with outer scientists to design and characterize novel nanoparticle-based reagents and analytical methods for antibody screening and characterizations.
·Plan and execute hands-on BSL2 biological experiments, and train and supervise junior staff.
·Utilize prior experience and knowledge in molecular biology, virology, cell biology and immunology to serve as a subject matter expert.
·Present and publish results at internal and external forums, and lead and/or participate in the writing of various reports and/or proposals.
·Manage interactions with external collaborators on ongoing projects, generate new project concepts.
·Assist with ongoing development of internal capabilities and strategies by providing technical expertise.
Requirements and Qualifications
·Demonstrable expertise in a relevant area required.
·Ph.D. in a related field, with 3 years relevant experience.
·M.S. in a related field, with 6 years relevant experience.
·Immunologist and virologist strongly preferred.
·Understanding of lab safety and protocols.
·Ability to analyze data in a quantitative and objective manner.
·Working knowledge of statistics and use of Microsoft Office products
·Collaborative teamwork attitudes and ability to work in a team environment.
·The candidate should be detail oriented, scientifically motivated, think critically, and capable of conducting job responsibilities independently. Expectation of being able to effectively communicate present data.
Preferred Experience
·Immunology, virology, molecular biology, cell biology, antibody assay development, and/or immune-oncology.
·Advanced knowledge of lab processes and procedures including flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISpot, and cytokine analysis.
·High through-put antibody assay development and knowledge on Octet based antigen and antibody interaction analyses
·Knowledge and hands-on experience on flow cytometry
·Hands-on experience with ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, molecular biology and pseudovirus assay development.
·Protein chemistry and characterization knowledge and experience.
·Demonstrated collaborative and supervisory activities.
