Job Description
The Role:


We seek a motivated individual with experience in a microbiology laboratory setting to support microbial Technical Development. Candidates should have experience with various microbial techniques such as aseptic sample handling, bioburden and familiarity with endotoxin methods. In this laboratory-based role, the Senior Research Associate will be responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations and following microbiology test protocols for analysis of in-process and final product bioburden and endotoxin release testing of development samples (DNA plasmid, protein, mRNA, and LNP sample types). In addition, the Candidate would contribute to method optimization, testing in support of rapid microbiological method qualifications and maintain the microbiology laboratory and equipment. This subject matter expert would interact with internal customers, external contract manufacturing and QC laboratories to support method transfer and enable method implementation.


Here’s What You’ll Do:


  • Aid in development of rapid sterility and bioburden methods
  • Operate and maintain microbial testing equipment such as filtration pumps, BSCs, plate readers and specialty equipment.
  • Understand basic method and laboratory equipment troubleshooting
  • Perform peer data review and interpret results
  • Execute improvement projects to strengthen overall lab competencies
  • Be a microbiology sample testing team member and subject matter expert
  • Be accountable for good documentation of experiments
  • Support alternative microbiological test methods development and validation
  • Prepare samples, execute analytical testing, perform data analysis and report out results with rapid turnaround time

  • A BS with 2-5 of relevant microbiology industry experience
  • Experience executing bioburden (USP <61>) test method is required, and sterility testing (USP <71> and endotoxin testing (USP <85>) experience preferred
  • Familiarity with rapid microbiology methods, equipment, and systems as well as general laboratory equipment such as Millipore filtration systems, various endotoxin test kits/ systems, plate-readers
