Research/Senior Scientist

Preclinical Assay Development, Muscle Programs

Regel Therapeutics is a gene modulation therapy company focused on improving the life of patients suffering from disorders resulting from alteration of gene expression. Our proven T3 (Targeted Therapeutic Technology) platform combines AAV delivery with two proprietary technologies for efficient and specific restoration of gene expression exclusively in the cells affected by the pathology. We are a seed-stage startup based in Cambridge, MA and Berkeley, CA and we are looking for a talented Research Scientist or Senior Scientist to join our R&D team and help develop our preclinical programs. Title will be determined based on relevant candidate experience.

  • Lead histological analyses (e.g. IHC, ISH) of tissue samples related to relevant in vivo studies
  • Manage work performed by external academic and CRO partners
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities
  • Develop and perform downstream molecular analysis (e.g. dPCR, ELISA, MSD, Western Blot) of animal tissue from proof-of-concept experiments to support preclinical development efforts
  • Train and manage research associates involved in molecular and histological analyses

Required Qualifications

  • Strong molecular biology skills including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA, and molecular cloning
  • Competence in assay development, experimental design, and troubleshooting
  • PhD in molecular biology, developmental biology, human physiology, or related field
  • Strong experience with histological and microscopy techniques including ISH, IHC, confocal microscopy and associated analytical methods
  • Background in skeletal muscle/cardiovascular biology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience processing multiple tissue types for histological analyses
  • Proven track record of working in collaborative environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using scientific software programs, including the Benchling Molecular Biology suite (or similar) and GraphPad Prism
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture methods
  • Previous experience working with AAVs or in the gene therapy field
  • Experience producing and analyzing RNA-seq/scRNA-seq libraries
