National Grid is hiring a Senior Counsel to join our Employment and Labor department. This is a hybrid position located in Brooklyn, NY.
Job Purpose
Key Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with various business units, in-house lawyers and outside counsel
- Prepare the Company’s responses to local, state and federal administrative charges (EEOC, NYSDHR, NYCCHR, MCAD etc.), including overseeing mediations, internal witness interviews, conducting investigative interviews, gathering and analyzing documents and drafting the Company’s position statement and responses to document requests
- Prepare and negotiate severance/separation agreements
- Provide legal guidance to People and Culture Team and Ethics on conducting internal investigations
- Provide training to People and Culture Team and various business units
- Experience handling litigations, agency charges and subpoenas independently or with minimum supervision
- Respond to employment-related subpoenas and other requests for information from third parties and advise on any potential privacy related issues
- Manage and oversee outside counsel in employment-related litigations, including efficiently managing outside counsel costs and fees and advising the various business units on strategy and mitigation of risks
- Review and provide guidance on employment-related policies and procedures
- Familiarity with OSHA and the NLRB, a plus.
Qualifications
- Ability to work with all levels within the organization
- Experience representing clients in employment related matters, charges and litigations"
- Member of New York or Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bar with 5-10 years of labor & employment law or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently
- J.D. from an accredited college or university
- Solid written and oral communication skills
