About Run for Something

Run for Something recruits and supports young progressives running for down-ballot offices in the United States. Since launching in 2017, we’ve recruited 116,000+ young people who want to run, and we’ve endorsed over 2,200 candidates across all 50 states + DC. Position Name: Senior Creative Manager

Reporting Structure: This role reports to the Digital Communications Director

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Job Classification: Full Time, Exempt


Essential Duties:

The primary responsibilities of this role include driving the creation of Run for Something’s multimedia and branded assets, including video, graphics, print, and audio, as well as templates for organizational use. This individual also serves as a defender of the Run for Something visual brand and style.



Position Summary:

Run for Something is currently hiring for a Senior Creative Manager to join the Communications department. This role will report to the Director of Digital Communications. This is a new position, with the opportunity to make an impact on our mission by leading our multimedia production efforts to raise awareness of RFS’s work, recruit diverse young progressives to run for office, share stories, and educate the public about the impact of local offices. This position is responsible for creating Run for Something’s multimedia and branded assets (including video, graphics, and audio) for websites, social media, events, partnerships, and other public-facing endeavors. This position is also the champion of the visual branding and style of Run for Something and its affiliated initiatives, and will assert the brand/style book of RFS, establish and update branded templates as needed for the organization, train others to use the brand effectively, and drive consistency in branding style throughout the organization.



Responsibilities

The Senior Creative Manager will help RFS accomplish our strategic imperatives via:


Creative and Media Production (65% of time)

  • Develop and lead multimedia projects that highlight the RFS mission and advance departmental goals and strategies
  • Creating video, audio, and graphic assets for RFS events, public-facing channels such as websites and social media, and programs, in keeping with departmental and organizational goals and strategies
  • Collaborating with team members, other departments, and external partners as needed to identify creative asset needs and ensure creative projects are completed effectively and efficiently
  • Driving multimedia (“creative”) Communications projects and providing support and guidance on organizational projects that have branded and/or media components, including video, audio, print, and graphic assets


Brand Management (20% of time)

  • Asserting multiple RFS visual brands and styles across the organization;
  • Ensuring creative projects are aligned with defined style guides and updating those guides as needed
  • Creating templates, guidelines, brand books, and assets for organizational use;


Departmental and Administrative Tasks (15% of time)

  • Supporting Communications departmental tasks as needed
  • Managing vendors and vendor relationships
  • Reporting metrics and outcomes; recommending new actions and opportunities based on needs and goals
  • Determining and documenting processes for creative projects, including production calendars and brand books



Key Goals

  • Expand media content and reach on YouTube, social media channels, and websites in collaboration with the Director of Digital Communications, the Digital Engagement Associate, and other colleagues
  • Update and maintain a library of RFS branded templates and assets for organizational use
  • Pitch and execute a creative strategy with the goal of expanding RFS awareness in young, historically marginalized communities
  • Create a pipeline of informative and inspiring multimedia stories from diverse, young, progressive voices (including candidates, staff, and partners) to further RFS’s mission to recruit young, diverse progressives to run for office and educate the public about the importance of state and local elected office



Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work in and contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment

  • Strong commitment to the Run for Something mission
  • Strong experience asserting an organizational brand and related assets, and training others in the brand style and guidelines
  • Very strong project management and cross-collaboration skills across an organization’s departments as well as with external partners
  • Strong understanding of the full digital landscape and how to adjust goals and build strategies to suit a medium’s needs
  • Strong writing and editorial skills
  • Strong history of driving media and asset production for mission-driven organizations, with an emphasis on self-sufficiency
  • At least 4 years of experience managing and/or leading video, graphics, print, and audio production projects, including developing scripts, designing/editing content, managing vendors, and tracking project plans
  • Champion of people-centered and ethical storytelling
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time in a remote environment


Plus Qualifications

  • Ability to think creatively, identify barriers and roadblocks, and propose solutions and recommendations
  • Experience creating media and assets for virtual and in-person events
  • Experience creating media that addresses complex and sensitive topics
  • Ability to decide when to pivot and adjust timelines and deliverables based on needs and goals, including in response to breaking news
  • Strong engagement with and enjoyment of digital culture and trendsUnderstanding of accessibility best practices for multimedia and in the digital space


Essential Physical Requirements

  • This position requires frequent travel, as described above. The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout areas that require transportation by car. The candidate must be able to conduct overnight travel when necessary during these trips.
  • The position requires the ability to attend events which may encompass all or part of the work day.
  • The position requires the ability to work on a computer for all or part of the work day.
  • As this is a remote position, the person in this position must be able to communicate with colleagues and partners via phone, including conference and video calls, as well as written communication such as Slack and email.


Compensation & Benefits

Salary for this position is set at $108,500. In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable for new and current employees. Run for Something salary bands for a given staff level are benchmarked to the 75th percentile for our sector, and all new employees are paid at the entry point of those bands. Employees then have the opportunity to progress through current salary bands through annual cost of living increases and performance-based pay increases, and into new salary bands through promotions.
