What Business Analysis contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Business Analysis serves as a liaison between the organization's businesses and IT systems development teams to align business strategies and capability needs and to ensure IT systems enable their desired value. This job family identifies and analyzes business needs, defines requirements and objectives, and makes recommendations for solutions using new and existing technologies. This job family researches and documents relationships between the components of the application system (i.e., end users, business processes, data, applications, and devices) and translates business requirements into application requirements.
Job Summary
The Senior Consultant, Business Analysis partners with business leaders and project teams to identify business needs and deliver Information Technology solutions. The Senior Consultant defines project scopes in order to efficiently deliver on the identified business cases and ensures that solution development, implementation and change management activities achieve desired business goals. Through business process improvements and activation of new capabilities, this job enables business units to achieve their operational and commercial objectives. Given the high degree of experience and knowledge required for the role, the Senior Consultant may lead discussions with senior leaders and serve as a solution owner on a project team.
Responsibilities
- Leads elicitation sessions using variety of requirements gathering methods such as interviews, documentation analysis, surveys, site visits, business models with executives, managers, developers, and subject matter experts.
- Mediates across different IT teams utilizing knowledge of IT and roles and responsibilities within the organization.
- Defines requirements in accordance with SDP/SDLC, management and project/product scope. Ensures problem statements and objectives are clearly defined. Ensures requirements are aligned to project scope, objectives, and strategies.
- Facilitates the team through the analysis of, and makes recommendations towards, complex business decisions.
- Knows and executes best practices for business analysis processes and functions (from an industry and strategic standpoint), including requirements elicitation methods. Knows emerging trends.
- Focuses on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.
- Demonstrates excellent listening, communication, and facilitation skills.
Strategic Planning & Execution (Medical Segment Kermit & BRITS)
- Assemble and deliver executive level presentations to socialize strategy and garner support.
- Medical Segment IT leader responsible for driving application stability for enterprise. Kermit is a multi-dimensional IT transformation strategy, focused on speed, resiliency, and technology standards. This leader will interface with all platform and application owners in Medical to build upon application roadmaps. As overall leader for this process, this role will regularly interface with EIT leadership team to share progress.
- Participation in segment community of practices and CoE Teams (Cloud Optimization, Health & Stability, BA CoP, etc.)
- Strong communication skills – Business Analyst ability to translate between business and IT acumen.
- Stays in tune with industry trends.
- Maintains, refreshes, and updates multi-year roadmap.
- Key leader on core Medical BRITS (business relevant IT Strategy) team. Responsible for partnering business and technology leaders from across the Medical Segment/Enterprise to drive technology strategy development and planning.
- Encourages others to think differently. Facilitates effective brainstorming with team members and peers to generate new ideas and solutions.
- Leverages relationships across the enterprise to drive agreement on roadmap, initiatives, and value.
- Demonstrates financial acumen required to assess and analyze investments and associated return/value.
- Collaborate with Portfolio, Architecture, and Process Enablement leaders to govern Medical Technology Roadmap.
- Strategy experience – Understanding multi-year prioritization approach, business acumen in terms of when to engage what levels for decision making.
- Helps team members to identify trade-offs of ideas and solutions. Uses data and alternative perspectives to broaden thinking and generate new solutions.
- Partners with business teams to develop multi-year IT strategy aligned to overall Segment strategy.
- Tight partnership with solution owners/product teams to ensure strategy is well understood and proposed investments align to strategic capability needs.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly cross-functional environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that includes Cardinal employees and offshore/onshore consultants.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams to a common goal/objective.
- Effective oral/written communicator; excellent listener
- 7-10 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Technical aptitude – broad understanding of commercial and supply chain technology. ERP process design and implementation experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field preferred
- Effective communication and collaboration skills (written and verbal). This role will routinely be called upon to present to senior leadership.

Anticipated salary range: $97,700 - $139,600
