Job Description
The Challenge


The 2d Marine Division (MarDiv) Headquarters (HQ) Operations section is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising a variety of current and future activities for the Division HQ, and all subordinate Regiments and Battalions, and adjacent major commands. It is crucial to synchronize all current and future operations across HQ staff functions utilizing guidance from numerous 2d Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF) and 2d MarDiv Commanding General orders and policies, as well as applicable orders and policies from multiple Higher Headquarters levels throughout the Marine Corps and Department of Defense (DoD). What if you could use your knowledge and skill with operations and planning to help inform the appropriate decision-making bodies on multiple aspects of mission readiness.


Specifically, You Will Be Expected To


As an Operations and Planning Analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our team, you will conduct technical research and analysis of force sustainment, training, and integration. You will need to research, analyze and develop recommendations and reports regarding Operational Plans (OPLANs), concept development, and naval integration efforts in support of 2d MarDiv G-3 Plans Section.


  • Develop analysis and reports to improve plans, concepts, and fiscal assessment for an overall Division Development Program in line with the Commanding General’s Mission Training Plan and guidance.
  • Conduct functional analyses and develop products that mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Conduct analysis and develop recommendations regarding 2d MarDiv aligning its efforts to Man, Train, and Equip its forces according to Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) and Higher Headquarters (HHQ) requirements balanced against current capabilities and readiness of the units sourced against these requirements.
  • Work with community of interest (COI) to ensure proper testing, evaluation, and development of gear and equipment in support of 2d MarDiv.
  • Ensure analysis and recommended actions describe reconciliation of 2d MarDiv capabilities with the demands of theater and global campaign plans as published by Marine Components and current strategic guidance.
  • Assist the 2d MarDiv Plans Officer with Operational Planning Teams during Division exercises, contingencies, and other planning initiatives as directed.
  • Analyze strategic and long-range plans and operational concepts regarding 2d MarDiv employment and
  • Conduct vulnerability analysis of 2d MarDiv aligned areas of operations and develop reports, recommended actions, and/or input to OPLANs.
  • Conduct analysis and develop recommended conventional force survivability- and lethality-enhancing concepts, capabilities, technologies, and solutions.
  • Conduct analysis on operational plans, concept development, and naval integration efforts in support of 2d MarDiv Plans Section.

Must Have


  • 2+ years specific experience working at General Officer level staff in current or future operations section
  • Formal education at the career (O-4) level, or higher from a US military service school
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution
  • TS/SCI Clearance


Nice If You Have


  • Major Subordinate Commands (MSC)/Major Subordinate Element (MSE) experience
  • Experience working on a Joint Staff
  • Familiarity with Automated Messaging Handling Service (AMHS
  • Marine Expeditionary Unit experience
  • Master's Degree
