Job Description
Make your mark for patients


To strengthen our In Vitro Pharmacology Early Research Team, based in out of our Boston R&D Hub in Cambridge, MA, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Scientist I – In Vitro Pharmacology. This scientist will have responsibility for developing and executing assays for identification of small molecules therapeutics across UCB’s therapeutic areas of interest. He/She will also have responsibility for validating novel biological targets and supporting projects.


Note: We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this role.


Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities


  • Have accountability for achieving drug project milestones and delivering on objectives through effective internal and external collaboration across different geographies
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and validate new assays, including translatable cell-based models
  • Drive scientific excellence and technology developments to maximize both current and future impact on programs and projects
  • Provide strong scientific thinking, develop hypotheses and drive scientific learnings on projects


Minimum Experience/Skills Required


  • Independent scientist who can drive with minimal supervision but also to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Experience with the design, development, optimization, and prosecution of cellular and biochemical assays for identification and evaluation of novel molecular entities
  • Experience with the analysis relevant to in vitro screens
  • Direct hands-on experience with advanced cell and molecular biology techniques and experience with culturing a wide variety of human cell lines
  • PhD with 0-4 years OR Masters/Bachelor’s with 6+ of applicable research experience with excellent scientific track record


Preferred Experience/Skills


  • Knowledge of targeted protein degradation is a plus
  • Working knowledge or experience with CRISPR screening approaches is a plus
  • Neuroscience and/or immunology background is a plus
  • Experience with small molecules/ligands/therapeutics is preferred


Salary Range: $105,390 to $122,955 base salary
