Scientist – In Vivo Preclinical Pharmacology Jobs

Knowledge of in vivo pharmacology principles, drug metabolism and in vivo dosing and sampling skills

Demonstrated understanding and experience in performing pharmacological and mechanistic studies in in-vivo models of Retinal Diseases, including all pertinent ex-vivo analyses.

Expertise with integrated physiological assessments in the eye, including ocular dosing and dissection techniques. Experience in ocular imaging is a plus

Demonstrates good oral, written, and interpersonal skills and is a strong collaborator and team player.

Protocol development and approval in partnership with IVS and IACUC. Responsible for validity, reproducibility, interpretation, documentation.

Works under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy.

Certification or training in project management.

Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory documentation. Resource Management:

Proven track record in project management and team leadership.

Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for in vivo projects.

Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, pharmacology) or equivalent experience.

Substantial experience in in vivo research, including experience with various animal models and techniques.

Understanding the impact of decisions and actions on the business and consulting with colleagues and management as applicable

Thorough knowledge of current and emerging scientific standards regulatory requirements for assigned territories

Evaluating departmental and broader organizational SOPs as fit for purpose, in compliance with current scientific standards and regulatory requirements

Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to convey complex technical information clearly

Previous Virology therapeutic area experience

Education: Masters or PhD or equivalent experience in Neuroscience or relevant scientific disciplines with a strong emphasis on in vivo research.

Seeking candidates with 2-6 years’ experience in industry ideally. 2+ years in drug discovery and neurodegenerative disease areas is highly desired.

Experience with models of neurodegenerative diseases, including molecular mechanisms involving innate repair pathways.

Extensive hands-on experience with animal handling and dosing techniques, including administration routes (e.g., oral, intravenous, subcutaneous) and sample collection methods.

Proficiency in laboratory bench skills such as RNA analysis, enzyme assays, kinetic analyses, microscopy, neuroanatomy and/or histology.

Experienced scientist with 3+ years’ experience in the drug development process and 1+ years’ people management experience

Presentation of data and strategy to the internal management boards and external scientific presentation at conferences and meetings.

Experience as lab group leader with hands-on skills preferred

Excellent oral and written communication skills across all levels within and external to the organization

Experience with genetic medicine therapeutic approaches preferred

Experience with CNS disorders preferred

BS/BA with some relevant laboratory experience required

Practical experience with a broad range of in vitro biological assays (including GPCRs, kinases, transporters, and ion channels)

Experience using wide range of automation, inventory systems, data analysis and informatics systems

Ensure the operational management of all the staff and resources of the CPU, including organization and management, qualified staff selection, etc.

Demonstrate sound fiscal responsibility in the development and management of the CPU budget.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in clinical research, preferably a CRO or research environment.

A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience.

Independently perform tumor implantation, mice randomization, group assignment and dosing via tail-IV, IP, SubQ and intramuscular injections

Independently monitor tumor progression by caliper measurement or IVIS imaging

PhD in Pharmacology, Biology or other related field with relevant post-graduate experience. Job title and responsibilities will be based on experience

Knowledge in the metabolic disease field with a strong in vivo background is essential

Excellent scientist with passion for hands-on research and desire to lead from the bench

Working knowledge of data management and statistical analysis (Graph Pad Prism, Office 365, etc);

Hands-on experience with small animal imaging modalities, i.e., bioluminescence (BLI) and/or nuclear imaging (PET/SPECT);

Working knowledge of fundamental molecular biology techniques applicable to ex vivo tissue analysis;

Detail-oriented, highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills; Holding high standard of scientific integrity;

Hands-on experience in orthotopic tumor modeling and aseptic surgery techniques (e.g., castration);

Experience in Mammalian cell culturing and maintaining human tumor cell lines and primary human cells;

Required are experience maintaining animal colonies, genotyping, and harvesting brain tissue to prepare protein lysates, RNA, or cells for primary culture

Prepare seminars, discussions and lectures for dissemination of knowledge and results of research at national and international meetings

Experience with maintaining and breeding colonies of genetically modified mice and using mice as experimental animals

Experience maintaining animal colonies, genotyping, and harvesting brain tissue to prepare protein lysates, RNA, or cells for primary culture

Excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to work independently

Excellent quantitative skills and facility with statistical and other data analysis software (GraphPad Prism, ImageJ, MATLAB, R, etc.)

Experience with additional ex vivo PD assessment assays (basic biochemical and immunological methods including cell culture, ELISA/multiplex assays)

Team player who is well organized with excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills and be able to perform multitasking as needed

Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred but not essential

Background knowledge of immunology is a plus but not required
