Science Editor (Remote) Jobs

Location: Remote (must be in the US)
Job Type: Contract (ongoing) - must be able to dedicate 25-30 hrs/week
Compensation Range: $23 - 33 per hour

Our client, a leading educational publishing company dedicated to providing high-quality content for grades 6-12, is looking for a talented and experienced Science Editor to join their team.

As a Science Editor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and integrity of their science feature articles and accompanying test items across various disciplines, including Earth & Space, Life, and Physical Sciences. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education, possesses exceptional editing skills, and wants to contribute to the development of educational materials that inspire minds.
Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the science editorial lead to maintain high standards of editorial and instructional excellence.
• Conduct razor-sharp editing of science feature articles and test items targeted toward grades 6-12.
• Ensure the alignment of content with the company's educational objectives and guidelines.
• Edit content for organization, consistency, accuracy of science information, and overall flow, while improving clarity and readability.

Qualifications:

• Experience level: Experienced
• Understanding of appropriate voice, vocabulary, and compositional structure for readers at this level.
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
• Experience as an editor in K-12 educational publishing or educational technology.
• Excellent editing skills with a keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining high editorial standards.
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with differentiated text and Lexile levels.
• Knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to readers at this level.
• Proficient in using editing tools and software.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a science discipline, with a working knowledge of Earth, Space, Life, and Physical Sciences for middle and high school.
