The Opportunity
The Technical Program Facilitator (TPF) of Computer Science is a full-time member of the University staff who supports the operational needs, strategic direction, and plans of Southern New Hampshire University. The Technical Program Facilitator reports to a Senior Associate Dean or Associate Dean. In this role, you will be absolutely committed to maximizing the likelihood of learner success in our high-quality academic programs. You must be committed to our STEM department's mission to serve as a global leader in STEM education by providing learner-centric and modern opportunities focused on equitable access for all using innovative technology and teaching practices. You should demonstrate a commitment to student success in both teaching and learning.
The Technical Program Facilitator (TPF) must be experienced in the "T" in STEM and serve as a technology subject matter expert. You will promote the continuous improvement process and work in close collaboration with other Associate Deans as their primary team, and with other partners throughout the organization. You will be adept at using data to support decision-making and continuous improvement that impacts the Computer Science program and technology within the STEM programs. You will serve in academic and administrative capacities to help ensure STEM's technology-focused programs and courses are high quality and use industry-relevant technologies. This role could also be consulted to help with other verticals that have technology training in their curricula. This is a fully remote position.
In this Role You'll Get To:
  • Implement instructional and design strategies that engage students in their learning in technical content areas
  • Develop technical trainings and support materials for instructors, students, or advisors
  • Advise other programs that use technology courses, including cybersecurity and data analytics
  • Follow all standard instruction principles when serving as a course instructor
  • Collaborate with internal and external support services/vendors to engineer, design and troubleshoot web-based IDE's, Virtual Simulations or Labs that work within the technology space as part of the STEM virtual lab suite
  • Support communication and collaboration between academic administration and other partners, especially concerning technology
  • Be a subject matter expert to support STEM's Technology curriculum
  • Research, develop, and test appropriate software/technologies that best support requirements of course/program
  • Cultivate interdepartmental relationships including with other academic units, academic technology, learning science, and learning resources
  • Be a coordinator of STEM curriculum development
  • Participate in curriculum oversight, for example, evaluating programs, evaluating courses, and serving as course technical expert
  • Other responsibilities will consist of ongoing participation with the academic unit to include serving on committees and working groups and participating in professional development and strategy meetings
  • Manage and advise on course development and course improvement projects
  • Teach up to three courses per year to gain a holistic perspective as program anchor
What we're Looking For:
  • 4 years work experience in computer science related fields, including software development, software engineering, application development, or full stack development
  • Specialized knowledge: Must be experienced with online curriculum development and oversight
  • Demonstrate ability to anticipate long-term impacts
  • Experience working with students and faculty in an online environment
    • Demonstrate ability to help guide the academic unit's strategy
    • Demonstrate ability to collaborate among colleagues and partners to effect change
    • Use reflective judgment (how individuals reason in a complex fashion about problems which don't have a single correct answer)
    • Demonstrate ability to anticipate long-term impacts
    • Demonstrate ability to develop processes
    • Demonstrate ability to apply knowledge to the bigger picture
  • Demonstrate ability to develop processes
  • Must have at least two years experience working in online higher education
  • Use reflective judgment (how individuals reason in a complex fashion about problems which don't have a single correct answer)
  • Communication and collaboration, in working from a distance, with multiple partners, to effect change and positively affect student success
  • Programming in Python, C++, Java, cloud computing, client-server application development
  • Demonstrate ability to help guide the academic unit's strategy
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar; Doctorate or terminal degree preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to apply knowledge to the bigger picture
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate among colleagues and partners to effect change
