The SAP Director provides senior technology vision and leadership in the development, implementation, and support of enterprise SAP solutions that are delivered on premises or are cloud-based.
This position assists the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Deputy CIO in setting priorities and developing consistent standards in software and data services development within the organization, utilizing defense-in-depth around information security through secure coding and data modeling.
The incumbent is responsible for the strategic direction and tactical execution of the SAP application portfolio.
The incumbent is responsible for coordinating operational support functions and overseeing standard operating procedures to ensure services operate within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
A key emphasis of this position is to champion SAP capabilities across the County while serving as a trusted technology advisor to department heads for SAP solutions to meet their business needs.

- Provides leadership in developing strategies for proper procedures for implementing operational security measures to protect the County’s application environment.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
- Directs the application of principles, techniques, tools, and methodologies of industry-accepted Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Information Life Cycle (ILC) in accomplishing process analysis and modeling, functional requirements determination, application design and development, testing and certification, requirements tracking, quality control, implementation, and ongoing system and application operations and maintenance activities for current, new, and emerging technologies.
- Meets with key stakeholders to ensure application alignment with business strategy.
- Provides leadership and supervision through hiring, recruiting talent, and providing coaching and mentoring to establish a customer-focused development and support team.
- Provides strategic direction to the SAP roadmap for the County
- Provides advice and assistance to internal personnel and external entities including subcontractors, contractors, and vendors concerning the business application environment and integration issues.
- Directs and assists the IT Resource Managers in the management and coordination of secure business applications development through the implementation of industry-acceptable secure coding practices.
- Ensures preparation of business application project estimates, resource allocations, timelines, milestones, and project post-development support model.
- Ensures the evaluation and adoption of best practices to support Tarrant County business.

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Master’s degree is preferred.
TO APPLY, must have Seven (7) full-time years of senior-level or higher information technology management work experience. Note: Six (6) of these work years must be directly related to the SAP platform.
TO APPLY, must possess a current and valid driver license. Note: A Texas driver license is required to hold the position.
Must have knowledge of broad range of SAP modules.
Must have experience providing oversight and direction to major enterprise-level projects involving complex technology.
Demonstrated experience with the application of principles, techniques, and methodologies of technical project management, quality assurance, and change management.
Experience in one of the following core domains is highly desired: SAP Cloud Platform (SCP), SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), FIORI, or ECC 6.0.
Prior experience as a consultant or similar advisory role for SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) version 4 certification required or obtained within one (1) year of accepting position. SAP Certification is a plus, but not required.
Expert knowledge of information security principles and underlying technology infrastructure and platforms.
Ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously, make independent decisions, and work with limited supervision.
Demonstrated experience conducting detailed research on emerging technologies through reading and contact with industry and academic experts.
Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of management including monitoring tools for performance, fault-tolerance, capacity, information security event, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.
