Role Title: Managing Director - Technology Development
Preferred Candidates: Individuals with extensive experience in technology capability development, outsourced software engineering team management, and an impeccable software services and product business development record.
Department: Technology Development & Sustainment (TD&S)
Location: North America
Project M is a new initiative to launch a client-focused global professional services firm consisting of former McKinsey, BCG, Accenture, EY, and other large-firm professionals. The TD&S department offers a wide range of software development and sustainment services, including but not limited to AI/ML, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data management, outsourced R&D, outsourced IT, et cetera. Our engineering managers are among the finest – with a particular focus on AI talent.
Role Description
The Managing Director role presents a unique opportunity wherein candidates lead and maintain existing client relationships – while being placed in an entrepreneurial setting, constantly reinventing the firm and our offerings. Specifically, you will be responsible for developing new capabilities and areas of expertise, client relationship development, leading engagements alongside software engineering managers, and mentoring engineers. In short, you will be given the opportunity to ensure the highest quality delivery of client work, inspiring new staff, and developing new strategic relationships.
This specific opportunity is for candidates in the North American region.
Role Duties:
- Work with global software engineering teams to conduct research into AI/ML and emerging technologies; capability development and new market entry analysis
- Manage cross-functional teams, mentor team members, and build relationships with stakeholders, representing the firm in legal & financial negotiations.
- Own the P&L for your practice (e.g., AI Development, Software Team Outsourcing, IT Support Outsourcing, etc.)
- Improve software capability offerings on a quarterly basis
- Develop new client relationships
- Manage existing client relationships
Prior Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience at a MSP or Software Development organization (be it outsourced software development, global technology companies, etc.) with extensive sales and business development experience. Strong leaders and innovative thinkers with an entrepreneurial outlook will be strongly favored.
Specified preferences:
- Comfortable functioning and interacting at the highest levels of client organizations
- Experience managing large, global software teams.
- Proven track record with developing new client relationships.
- Unparalleled communication skills
- Exceptional analytical skills and creative thinking abilities.
Education Background
Advanced Degree/Master’s degree program from a top university with an impeccable academic record. Preferred course of study in business (MBA), finance, business analytics, or a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering).
Candidates with non-traditional education backgrounds will be considered, given exceptional work or entrepreneurial experience.
