The ASU ASU-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center is looking for a Research/Lab Aide to perform immunohistochemical sectioning and staining in a research laboratory. Duties will include designing and executing laboratory assays according standard procedures using standard lab equipment, making observations, analyzing and interpreting findings Additionally, images tissue for immunohistochemical analysis.`

Essential Duties

- Perform immunohistochemical staining of tissue
- Image stained tissue using a confocal microscope
Minimum Qualifications
One year of laboratory/research, field research, technical maintenance or archaeological experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with tissue sectioning and staining
- Experience with confocal microscopy
- Demonstrated knowledge regarding immunofluorescent and chemical staining with antibodies.
Working Environment
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict: to interact in a team environment: and to communicate.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes and respirator.
- Work with postentially hazardous agents or physical hazards.
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating; a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distance to perform work.
- Position works with animals or animal tissues
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and / or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
